Scam Alert! My elderly mother, who's 87, received a call from someone claiming to be from Nationwide Heating, insisting they were taking control of her British Gas Homecare account. They had her personal details, including her name and address, and then they pressed for her bank information and date of birth to supposedly establish a direct debit. Sadly, she fell for it. The moment she mentioned it to me, I looked up the number and quickly realised it was a scam. I've already reached out to her bank to inform them about this incident. It was heart-wrenching to see how distressed she was; these crooks really sink to the lowest of lows, preying on the elderly and the vulnerable.
