Called me and promptly hung up the moment I picked up the phone! It's rather bothersome!

I really struggled to grasp a word he said; his English was rather appalling and the call quality was just dreadful. In the end, I decided to hang up. To be honest, I probably shouldn’t have picked up in the first place. He kept rambling on about investments and various other topics, but I was completely lost.
