They call me loads during the day, often using different but very similar numbers. I think it’s borderline harassment, but since I don’t have a blocker on my landline there’s not much I can do. Sometimes I just end up unplugging the phone! It’s worrying when they keep calling and don’t get an answer. I’m 73 and don’t need this kind of stress. I’m even on the no-call list, but it clearly doesn’t stop these calls at all.

This afternoon, I received a call on our landline from an 020 number. Curiosity got the better of me, so I picked it up and just listened in silence. It struck me immediately that there was absolutely no sound on the other end, which raised my suspicions. To break the awkwardness, I made a noise-nothing specific-and shortly after, a rather female voice chimed in about being from ‘Windows and Doors’ and inquired if I was the property owner. I simply replied with a ‘no’. After a brief pause, she thanked me and wished me a pleasant day before the line went dead. Although the voice appeared to be female, it had a distinctly robotic tone, indicating it was likely a pre-recorded message programmed to react to specific answers. Definitely one to add to the block list!
