To start with, when someone rings me up but hasn't got a clue who they're trying to reach, my radar goes up straight away. It’s obvious they’re just trying to cast a line for a potential scam. The moment they clocked that I wasn't going to entertain their nonsense, they promptly ended the call. I simply refuse to waste time dealing with dodgy individuals.

I received a dodgy call claiming to be from O2, insisting that my bill was overdue. However, as soon as I mentioned I had confirmed via the O2 app that all payments were up to date, they promptly terminated the call. Clearly, they weren’t genuine representatives!

I received a call that appeared to be originating from India, but they disconnected the moment I inquired about their identity. Quite peculiar, really!

This morning (14/2/24), I received a call from this number, and then again in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I missed both calls. I noticed that some others have mentioned that their phones flagged this as SPAM; might I know how I can obtain that feature? I've registered with the Telephone Preference Service, yet I'm still bombarded with nuisance calls. Most of the time, these fraudulent callers seem to have an Indian accent and they always address me as 'M’am'. I find myself caught in a bit of a quandary, as on days when I’m feeling cheeky, I’ll engage them for a minute. I usually ask where they’re calling from and what town they're in, as well as how they got hold of my number. They tend to go silent for a moment before resuming their scripted nonsense. When I press them further, saying, “Please respond to my question-I'm waiting for an important call,” they struggle to provide any meaningful information. I often point out that they're calling from an office, so where exactly is that office? After a long pause, they typically respond with, “M’am, I’ll connect you to my Account Manager.” At that point, I usually hang up, or I keep them on loudspeaker, saying things like, “Hello? Can you hear me, M’am?” It’s all quite wrong, I know, but it irks me as I think about vulnerable folks who might fall for these scams. With technology advancing as it is, isn’t there a way to create a code that we could input without the scammers knowing, allowing authorities to monitor the call? Or perhaps a device that emits an extremely high-pitched sound that we can’t hear but would drive the scam callers mad? Is there such a thing already in existence? I do try to report these numbers to Action Fraud, I think the code is 7726, but I reckon it's most effective to report while the call is ongoing, don’t you agree?

Got a call just the one time, didn’t pick up and figured it was just another dodgy mobile call centre trying to blag something.

My phone instantly hung up when the number came through, must've been tagged as spam or something.

Seeing the London area code, I just ignored it thinking it was some kind of scam. Didn't bother picking up.

Got a call from some dodgy Indian call centre where the people had really fake sounding English names. They claimed to be from O2 UK and said they could slash my bill by half and get me a brand new iPhone 15 for just £20 a month. Of course, they wanted all my personal and bank information. Total scam!
