I recently participated in a competition on Facebook Marketplace where I had the chance to win an electric bike courtesy of Aldi. Today, I received a call from someone claiming to be associated with the contest, and they started off by inquiring if I was over the age of 18, seemingly just to elicit a 'yes' from me. It struck me as odd, especially since I had already provided my birth details when I entered the competition, which clearly indicated that I was of legal age. The whole call had a certain inauthenticity to it, and I quickly realised it was far from a genuine Aldi representative. Definitely felt like a scam to me!

"First World Lotto" Received several calls today urging us to join their scheme. Did some sleuthing online and discovered that others have fallen victim, getting roped into paying £39 every month! So, I rang their supposed representative to inquire about their incessant calls and how they managed to acquire three of our completely private numbers. They abruptly cut the line when I requested to speak to a supervisor. The noise in the background of the call was a dead giveaway of a rather unprofessional setup.
