Phone number ☎️ 02045771770 👆 is reported as a persistent scam targeting mainly elderly people by pretending to be from Sky or related to Sky Protect insurance. Callers use pressure tactics to coerce victims into handing over bank or card details, often demanding immediate payment for fake TV maintenance or insurance contracts that do not exist. Many victims report aggressive behaviour, attempts to charge cancellation fees, and calls from multiple numbers. Several cases involve relatives being convinced despite having no such contracts. The scammers use plausible names and UK-style phone numbers to appear genuine but are unrelated to Sky or any legitimate company. Victims frequently have to cancel bank cards after falling for the ruse, and attempts to get refunds or contract details usually fail. Authorities and banks are involved but the calls keep recurring.

4 monthsI work at Domestic and General in the Sky Protect Device Insurance department. This number is NOT legitimate and has no association with Sky or Domestic and General. This is a scam.DomesticGeneralSky Protect Device InsuranceSkyDomestic and General5 monthsMy 86 year old sister got a call and they pushed her to share her card info. Luckily, she slipped up and gave them the wrong card number, so they couldn’t take anything.6 monthsmy 85 year old mum got a call from someone saying they were from the TV repair insurance, asking for £120. we tried to get the bank involved but no luck. then they phoned her again, this time saying it was about her sky package, which she hasn't got. luckily, she didn’t pay anything else and asked them to send details by email, and sure enough, they sent a message from this same number.11 monthsSomeone rang my 88-year-old uncle pretending to be from SKY assured Ltd, claiming he owed money for his TV licence and that his maintenance cover was about to run out. Mind you, his TV licence was paid up not long ago and he doesn’t require any maintenance plan. He told them to call me instead, but they never got in touch. Unfortunately, he ended up giving them the three-digit code from his bank card, and they withdrew £99. My uncle reckons they must have already had his card details, probably bought from somewhere else since he’s been conned before.SKYLtd12 monthsMy mum got a call from someone claiming to be from Sky, telling her she owed money and her services would be stopped. They managed to trick her into handing over £90 to avoid disconnection. It was really upsetting to find out they took advantage of her like that.Sky1 yearGot a call from someone saying they were from Sky, claiming they had a deal on maintenance renewal. They wouldn’t take no for an answer and seemed to be aiming at older people. When I said I wasn't sure, the bloke named “Austin” handed me over to a woman, who said I was legally bound to pay. I told her no way and asked her to email me the contract - then she suddenly went quiet. Ended up cancelling my card because they somehow got the first four digits, so I got a bit caught out giving my info.SkyAustin1 yearMy grandad got a call from this number, they told him he needed to pay for his TV or something. Because his memory isn’t the best nowadays, he got confused and actually gave them his card info. We’ve already told the bank about it.2 yearsMy dad got a call from this number, and somehow they managed to trick him into thinking he had to pay something. They already had some digits from his card, so he ended up giving them the full details. I quickly blocked his card and rang his bank straight away. Honestly, I don’t understand how these scammers can live with themselves.2 yearsGot a call earlier claiming they had an amazing deal for renewing my Sky Protect. They acted like they were checking my bank info and then asked me to update my card details. When I said I never share bank info on the phone, especially to someone who called me, they quickly handed me to a ‘manager’ who just bounced me right back to a bloke called Chris. I told them I’m well aware of Adult Safeguarding and all those scam tricks (which I really am!). Then it struck me - I actually cancelled my Sky Protect subscription over a year ago!Sky ProtectChris2 yearsThere’s a dodgy TV insurance scam targeting older people, like my mum. They somehow convinced her to pay £100 for some sort of repair insurance. Luckily, the bank caught the payment and stopped it, but these scammers tried to take the money twice within a day. Since then, they’ve been ringing her nonstop (at least eight calls so far) telling her to contact her bank and unfreeze the payment. It’s pretty worrying how persistent they are!2 yearsGot a call from someone claiming they were Sky, offering some kind of insurance or maintenance deal. Ended up losing £50 to what turned out to be a total scam. Absolute muppets!Sky2 yearsMy elderly mum almost got scammed by someone claiming to offer TV insurance, trying to take £99 from her. Luckily, the bank spotted it as dodgy and blocked the payment. Thankfully, the cards have now been cancelled.Scam2 yearsMy elderly family member kept getting calls from someone called "Danny" trying to get him to renew some TV repair insurance he’s never actually signed up to. They rang a few times before we blocked the number, but then they started calling from other ones as well. It feels like some kind of scam aimed at older folks.Danny2 yearsMy mum’s been getting calls over and over from this number, someone named Tony according to the note she’s scribbled down by the phone. She hasn’t told us what it’s about though. There’s also a figure of £40 beside the name, which is worrying. Thankfully, we froze her bank cards just in case anything dodgy happened. I’ve called the number myself and told them to cut it out. Guess we’ll have to wait and see if they listen.Tony2 yearsThese scammers tricked my elderly parents, who are nearly 90, into handing over £99 by saying they were behind on payments for some SKY TV and phone service. It almost sounded believable since they do get their internet and landline from SKY. Honestly, just don’t pick up the phone if you don’t recognise the number - that’s the safest bet.2 yearsGot a call from someone saying they were selling Sky TV insurance, the lady said her name was Jane Smith. I told her I wasn't interested and ended the call. But they kept calling again and again afterwards.Sky TVJane Smith2 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be Sky, but it was definitely a scam. They sounded really convincing at first, but as soon as I said I knew it was a con, they got rude and started swearing. If you get a call like that, just hang up and block the number straight away. I actually got tricked for a few minutes and had to ring my bank to cancel my card. Even though I acted fast, they still managed to take some money. Now I’m waiting to see if they’ll give me my cash back.Sky2 yearsSCAM ALERT! Got a call about renewing a Sky contract I never had. Bloody annoying, these Indian scammers! PRO TIP: If someone rings you with an Indian accent claiming to be "David Jones" or "John Smith," they’re trying to con you. Just disconnect and don’t give them the time of day. Or, like me, mess around for half an hour with a fake credit card to waste their time 😀SkyDavid JonesJohn Smith2 yearsJust a heads up about this firm claiming to be Sky breakdown cover trying to get you to renew. It’s a proper clever scam. I kept hanging up, but someone new would ring straight back every time. They sound really convincing and honest. They even give you a number to call back, but it’s definitely not Sky. Looks like they’re still running this con as of April 2024.Sky3 yearsThis number kept calling me loads of times a day about renewing some "sky assured" plan, either £140 to keep it or £80 to cancel. They threatened to cut off our TV service if we didn’t pay up. When I asked for proof of any agreement with my parents or a bill, they wouldn’t show me anything, saying it was too late since the renewal date had passed. Honestly, they were very aggressive and not at all friendly.3 yearsSome con artists rang up an elderly family member, acting like they were from SKY. They claimed she was eligible for a discount on her subscription. When she said no, they kept pushing really hard until she ended up giving them her card info. They even told her to call back on 02045771770 to check it was SKY, but obviously, that was just their bogus helpline. We’re currently speaking to the bank to get her card blocked and sorted out.SKY3 yearsI received a call from a lady associated with this number who was attempting to persuade me into paying for ongoing insurance on Sky devices. Following that, I was passed over to a chap who persistently urged me to approve some payments. As soon as the conversation wrapped up, I rang my bank's security team and alerted them about the situation, which led to them freezing all transactions from my account. It was a bit of a hassle to have to cancel my debit card, but thankfully, nothing had been siphoned off before I managed to get the block in place.Sky3 yearsThis lot seem to target old folks. They called my dad, claiming he owed money but didn't say anything clear, just kept pushing. Proper nasty bunch.3 yearsThis number keeps hassling someone to renew a SKY sure package costing £140 a year, or else they’ll have to cough up an £80 cancellation fee. Thing is, our elderly unwell family member never even had this package. They’re really pushy and their English is quite bad, making it seem like they’re calling from some far-off call centre. Definitely wouldn’t trust them at all.3 yearsGot a call from some lot pretending to be Sky insurance, started from 7418750652 then rang me from 01157789786 and finally from 0048696171812, which I think is a Polish number. Pretty clearly a scam, they’re really organised with all these different numbers.SkyPoland3 yearsMy elderly Mum, who’s 74, got a call from someone pretending to be Sky. It appears yet another scam call has landed on my phone.Sky3 yearsMy mum, who’s 83, got a call from some bloke who was really smooth with his words. He said she’d got an insurance policy that needed renewing today, and she had to cough up £130 to renew or £90 if she wanted to cancel. He kept pushing that she had to pay right away or there’d be extra fees. Thankfully, she rang me before doing anything. I took over the call and made it clear that if he rang her again, I’d be involving the police since it was distressing her and felt like harassment. I hung up on the first call, but they kept ringing me - had about four calls just this morning! The last one asked if my bank had called to confirm the payment. I told them I’d checked with Virgin, and they hadn’t a clue about it. Ended up cancelling my card through the bank, luckily no money was taken. Still can’t believe I actually got fooled by their pushy attitude.
