I told her that was odd because I don’t even have Sky! She replied saying that sometimes people don’t expect it. I quickly let her know again that I don’t have any Sky gear at all. Total scam!!

Some bloke rang up saying he was from Sky because my 'maintenance contract was up' and wanted to know if my telly was playing up. I played along for a while just to see where he'd go with it. Eventually I called him a conman and asked if he told his mum his job was ripping folks off. He insisted he hadn’t asked for any dosh (not yet anyway) and that he wasn’t a thief. Then he just cut the call.

It escalated quickly, with him resorting to foul language as I insisted he was nothing more than a fraudster. Eventually, he mustered up the nerve to hang up on me. I felt compelled to report this unsavoury encounter to Police Scotland via their 101 number.

As soon as I interrupted him to clarify that his information was complete nonsense, he became quite aggressive and insisted that I allow him to finish. To my astonishment, he began hurling expletives in my direction while I accused him of being a scammer. Eventually, he slammed the phone down on me. I've reported the incident to Police Scotland via their non-emergency number, 101.

Warning: I just had a rather dodgy phone call. A chap with a thick Indian accent contacted me, claiming to be representing Sky, prompting me to renew insurance for what he referred to as my Sky box (truth be told, I’m not entirely convinced I even own one). He went on about offering some sort of deal at about £150 for a two-year extension, which seemed a bit too good to be true. To add to my unease, he insisted that insuring the box was a legal obligation, which raised all sorts of red flags in my mind. He mentioned a letter supposedly sent back in October asking me to renew before the end of January-something I can't recall ever seeing. Then he hit me with the ultimatum: renew or risk having my Sky box deactivated and facing a cancellation fee. At that point, I was thoroughly sceptical because it struck me as quite unreal for Sky to operate that way. I told him I needed a moment to review my contract and would ring him back, but when I requested his number, he promptly ended the call. After that, I utilised the 1471 service and found out he rang me from 020 4577 1652. Beware!
