I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent, and the number looked local at first. He said he was from BT and doing some work on the broadband to boost my internet speeds. That instantly felt off because I know Openreach handles broadband stuff, not BT. I asked where he was actually calling from, and he claimed it was London. When I mentioned the local area code, he quickly said he was using a VOIP phone. Then he asked what my internet speed was and told me to wait on the line for about half a minute while they checked things out. I didn’t trust it and just ended the call. He rang again from 02045770343, but I hung up straight away. Be careful, this sounds like a classic scam.

Got a call from a woman, sounded asian, saying she was from BT and there was some sort of maintenance stuff happening.

Seemed a bit dodgy to me.
