we’ve been keeping an eye on these scammers for quite some time now and managed to figure out which city they operate from. unfortunatly, we still haven’t nailed down their exact address. i’ve seen some good tips in these comments about blocking the numbers, so definitely do that if you can. this bunch has been really slippery, changing their approach a lot and juggling multiple scams at once. i’m not gonna go into specifics cause we’re aware these sites are monitored.

It won’t be long before these folks get what they want, and a few people are almost there already. Make sure you block this number straight away because they’re pretty dangerous, managing to trick even some savvy victims. The calls we’ve got have shown just how clever their social engineering is. If you spot this number on your caller ID, just ignore it. Also, make sure you report it to your network provider using their scam or phishing complaint system.

About five minutes ago I got a call from someone trying to sell me a Smart Save UK card for savings on shopping and stuff. I was bracing myself for the trap and sure enough, they asked me for £1.99 for postage, obviously fishing for my bank info. I let them go on till the end then just told them no thanks! :-)

Today, on Wednesday 10/01/24 around 5.20 pm, I got a call from 02045 719328. The person on the line spoke fast with a foreign accent and claimed to be from Smart Savings UK. He told me I was entitled to some money back on my gas and electric bills. He asked me to confirm my address and postcode, info he already seemed to have. He said I'd receive a cheque within 5 to 10 days and didn’t request any further details.
I hung up and then rang 1471 to check who had called me - it confirmed the number as 02045 719328. When I looked up Smart Savings Limited on the web, their official number actually started with 01872... which didn’t match!
I didn’t give this caller anything new, just repeated what he already appeared to know.

Had a bloke on the phone claiming to be William, but his accent was nowhere near any William I've met before. He said he was ringing from Smart Save UK and wanted to have a chat about the cost of living crisis. I didn’t hang about and ended the call straight away! Tried dialing the number again, but it was dead as a dodo. Pretty sure it was a dodgy scam attempt.

I've been getting calls from these lot for ages now. They claim they're 'renewing' my home appliance insurance, but it's a load of rubbish. They're just trying to trick me into handing over my bank info so they can set up dodgy direct debits. I usually keep them on the line as long as I can and feed them bogus details I find by searching for 'fake sort codes' online.
