I fell victim to a scam when I attempted to renew my driving licence through what appeared to be an official government site (DL assist). It turned out to be a total con!

Beware of fraudulent activities associated with a bogus DVLA site. We’ve fallen victim to a cunning ruse, losing £89 under the guise of ‘administration fees.’ They were also scheming to extract £89 every month, but thankfully, I’ve managed to halt any further deductions. Now I’m left in a bit of a lurch, forced to endure a 15-day waiting period before I can reach out to my bank again to file a claim for ‘service not rendered.’ Exercise caution! Their emails are utterly devoid of any business identity or physical address, and there’s no link to a legitimate website either. I used to think I was immune to such scams, yet these individuals are incredibly crafty.

My grandson got a message from this number just yesterday, and today he notices that £89 has vanished from his bank account. He had only recently applied for his provisional licence online and now it seems there's a connection. He’s absolutely devastated and to top it off, he's down to just a fiver left in his account!

My partner and I foolishly fell for the tricks of these con artists posing as an official .GOV.UK site to update our addresses on our licences. They managed to set up a direct debit using our debit cards, whisking away £89 each month after having taken an initial £20 followed by another £89 from both our accounts! We've promptly alerted our banks and had our cards blocked. My wife has already received her refund, while I'm stuck waiting up to ten working days before I can launch my claim through Barclays under the no product payment policy. What a right mess!

I've run into a bit of a predicament with this lot. So, I applied for my first provisional licence, and they took £34 from my account right away. Out of the blue, they've now taken an additional £89, and I'm left waiting for it to stop showing as pending before my bank can intervene. I gave their customer service a ring, and after a solid four minutes, a chap with a foreign accent picked up. He claimed I’d signed up for some subscription, which I absolutely did not. I've made it clear that I want to cancel this payment, so now it’s a waiting game with the bank to get it resolved. I mean, how can they justify charging both £89 and £34 for a license that only costs £34? They’re nothing short of scammers, if you ask me!

I can’t shake off the feeling that this might be a bit dodgy. I suppose I’ll have to sit tight for a couple of weeks and see if my renewed licence arrives as promised.

Do they happen to be affiliated with the DVLA and impose fees for renewing driving licences?

I reckon this phone number belongs to a firm named Mr Support. Unfortunately, while I was in the process of sorting out a new driving licence, this company cropped up. In a moment of distraction, particularly due to the immense stress from the recent passing of my husband, I mistakenly applied for my son's licence instead. I had assumed I was on a gov.uk site after typing that in. To my dismay, I later discovered an email from Mr Support. I contacted my bank, only to find out that they’re not affiliated with the government. Mr Support has somehow enrolled me in a subscription service, though I’m unsure about the charges. Thankfully, my bank has intervened by cancelling my card and blocking any further transactions. I absolutely do not want these people having access to either my or my son’s details. Can anyone offer some guidance? Many thanks.

I first received an email that looked as though it came from the DVLA, especially since I had recently applied for my very first provisional driving licence. They included a link for me to complete, and naively, I filled in all my personal information. To my dismay, I later discovered that they had taken an extra £34 from my account! It’s absolutely outrageous-such a blatant scam!

Initially, I received some emails that seemed to be from the DVL, but I had my suspicions.

I attempted to reach them on three separate occasions, but on each call, I was kept on hold - first for two minutes, then a rather lengthy ten minutes, and finally just one minute. The outcome? My phone bill ended up being a staggering £4.50 despite me not even getting through! How can that even happen? It’s absurd! They operate under the guise of the DVLA, but caution is warranted as they are clearly a fraudulent outfit; they hit me with charges totalling £112 - £30 for the driving licence itself and an outrageous £82 as an administration fee. After sending multiple emails their way, they finally begrudgingly agreed to refund me £103, but only after my daughter, who is a solicitor, stepped in and managed to persuade them. Quite the ordeal, I must say!

Received a call, but as soon as I picked up, the line went dead. Just silence on the other end.

I simply aimed to update my address on my driving licence, yet I was slapped with an £81 fee, which is rather perplexing as I thought this service was complimentary.

It appears to be associated with a website named Application Online, which seems to mimic the official DVLA site. They’re asking for a steep fee of £95 just to process a new driving licence for you. Quite dubious, if you ask me!

Hi there! I've just updated my driving licence and noticed a deduction of £81 from my bank card, which has left me quite puzzled. I'm unsure about how to reclaim this amount. Additionally, it seems that this number belongs to a fraudulent individual. How is it even possible for someone like this to operate in the UK? It would be helpful if we could be informed about such scams. Cheers!

Take heed! It's essential to safeguard your driving licence details from this scammer who was pretending to notify me about my licence needing renewal.
