Someone rang saying they were from United Utilities and wanted to lower our policy cost. Got a call outa nowhere saying I supposedly had a Homecare plan with them. I told them I’ve never had anything like that, then she started saying I had cover for my washing machine. Got a call from some bloke claiming to be with Home Care Insurance, saying I was owed a refund because this year's cover was half price. He asked for my card info to process it. When I refused and tried to get more info, he just ended the call on me. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

Yesterday, I got this call and kept asking who it was. The person said they were from homecare or something, but I told them I already have care with Currys. They were trying to say I had some discount and asked for my new credit card details. When I asked how much they said £166, but then I checked my bank statement and it showed I only pay £60 for my washing machine insurance. They quickly ended the call - proper cheeky scammers!

Received a call today, 9th February 2022, from someone claiming to represent Home Cover, discussing my white goods and television. They seemed well-informed about what I possess and stated that as a long-term customer of four years, I was eligible for a £36 reduction in my policy premium. I mentioned that I had no knowledge of their company and insisted on cancelling any associated policies linked to my address. The caller assured me that they would proceed with the cancellations, but I’m left wondering whether it was a con or if there’s some validity to their claims.

I had a rather dubious call the other day from someone claiming to be from Homecare. They were keen for me to verify my credit card details in order to lower my payments for my washing machine and freezer insurance. The thing is, they mentioned a washing machine that isn’t even mine and seemed completely clueless about the freezer. If they were on the level, they should’ve had that information to hand, right? I found the whole interaction very off, so I made it clear that I wouldn’t be sharing any details over the phone.

I got a call from 'HOME CARE' using the number 0204 571 1727, claiming they were renewing my home appliance insurance and offering a discount because I supposedly had no claims. The amount they mentioned was almost as high as my actual home insurance premium. For the last four years, I've been paying by credit card, and when the caller asked me to confirm the last four digits on my card, I flat out said no. Oddly enough, the initials he gave me for my card were wrong too. I kept asking questions, and eventually he just disconnected. Definitely be careful with calls like this!

Got a call from someone called Fiona claiming to be from home care about my appliance insurance. She tried to offer me a discount and said they'd send forms through the post but needed to confirm my bank details first. I told her to just post the paperwork and I'd settle by cheque. She then said they don’t take cheques and insisted I paid by card before, which isn’t true because my stuff’s insured with another provider. Felt like a total scam to me, so I told her if she wasn’t accepting my cheque - what I had no intention of sending anyway - then she could do one.

Got a call claiming they were from my electrical insurance provider, Home Sense, saying it's been since 2017. They asked about my appliances and mentioned cooker, washing machine, and fridge. Thing is, my cooker runs on gas and I replaced the washer and fridge freezer only last year. Didn't bother sticking around for more nonsense.

I had a similar experience recently. When the caller asked about our homeserve insurance, I explained that we didn't have it. To my surprise, she was shocked and stated that she wouldn't deceive anyone on a recorded call! Curiously, I asked her for the last four digits of the card we supposedly used for payment last year. She admitted she didn't know the digits but mentioned that it was a Visa debit card starting with the number four. It was quite comical, and I couldn't help but laugh at her response. However, things took a sour turn when she became irritable, prompting me to give her a straightforward instruction to leave me alone! Please be cautious and not let yourself fall victim to these types of calls.

Beware of a scam involving homecare! They call you about renewing or reducing payments for an insurance policy that doesn’t even exist. They’ll try to get your card info. The caller usually has a soft South African accent. Best to just avoid them completely.

Just like others have said here, got a call from the homepage number. They said my appliance protection was about to finish and needed my card info to renew. I said no way, then they kept insisting they wanted to chat with my husband instead. I just ended the call there.

I asked what exactly it was but she couldn’t tell me. I told her all I knew was I bought a Hitachi item years ago, nothing more specific.
