It appears companies employ this tactic to circumvent those pesky cold calling regulations; by asserting they’ve previously provided you with info, they reckon it’s not classified as cold calling. I’d recommend pressing them on where exactly they think they dispatched this so-called information, as they likely won’t have any records to substantiate their claims. When I informed them that I hadn’t received anything and mentioned my current hospital stay, they identified themselves as ‘IB Company’ and said they’d ring me back later. I firmly requested they refrain from doing so and to take me off their calling list, yet the cheeky caller just hung up on me. I’ve reported the incident to the Telephone Preference Service, but this marks the second occurrence, and frankly, it feels like nothing is being done.
