Even though I'm registered with the TPS to block cold calls, these jokers still ring me up. They were trying to chat about electricity for our business, but we work from a serviced office - so there’s no way they’re our supplier. Plus, they didn’t even bother to get our manager’s name right. It’s clearly a scam from start to finish!

This very number called me earlier today, asking for my wife. I replied, “Of course, could you let me know who’s calling first?” Then they simply hung up. No clue who that was, but their accent definitely didn’t sound local to Manchester or nearby. That’s the first time someone’s asked specifically for my wife. A while back, I had a similar call and told them she was at the police station assisting with some enquiries and I wasn’t sure when she’d return. Not a word from them, just ended the call straight away.

I just kept stalling them ‘til I got fed up and hung up. Proper awful scam, taking advantage of people who don’t know better.

A chap rang up claiming to be from BT, stating they were offering to supply new phones free of charge. He mentioned that we lacked a call blocker and assured me these new devices would curb all those pesky marketing calls. Quite amusing, really! I informed him that BT had recently repaired a fault on our line, and there hadn't been a whisper about new phones then. I quizzed him on whether he had our email address, to which he responded in the negative. At that point, my suspicions were fully aroused, and lo and behold, he abruptly ended the call!
