Some bloke said he was from Infinity call blocking, rang me up. I told him I wasn’t interested and added it was 5:30 on a Friday, time for POETS day, but he just didn’t get what I meant. Quite weird, really.

They tried to sell me call blocking, saying TalkTalk doesn’t have it even though it seems we’re paying for it anyway in our bills everywhere. They claimed the government’s making sure everyone over 50 gets it free. They didn’t want any money from me but asked to verify my ID using my debit Visa card that’s up for renewal soon. I just told them no thanks, not interested.

Whenever I answer these calls, I use a made-up name that either my partner or I can spot straight away. Today’s caller was trying to convince me to pay £6.75 for call blocking, which they said was included in my phone direct debit. I asked for the last four digits of my debit card, just to mess with them, and also the renewal date on the card that supposedly pays the bill - obviously, I gave false details both times. Then I told him he hadn’t managed to guess a single number right. Score one for me, zero for these scammers!

This number rang me three times on the 29th of August. I never pick up and always keep my answerphone switched on and silent. As there wasn’t a single message left, I’m pretty sure it was some sort of spam call. Anyone who really needs to reach me usually leaves a voicemail.

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent saying my bank card needs renewing because it's about to expire. She kept pushing me to tell her which bank I use, but I told her my card’s not even close to expiry. I didn’t share any info and she just hung up. Feels like a total scam to me.

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were with 'UK talk' and had a supposedly better offer for my landline and broadband. They were really insistent, and I’m pretty sure they were fishing for my banking info. I cut them off, said no thanks, and ended the call straight away.

Got a call from a lady speaking with an Indian accent, who said she was from O2, trying to tempt me with a special offer to extend my contract.
