02045389413 - Claimed to be from Virgin Media! Started asking how much I pay monthly. I told him if he was really from Virgin, he’d already know that!! He began talking about security stuff. So I asked him for my password to prove he was genuine, and surprise, surprise, he didn’t know it. I called him out as a dodgy scammer, which he obviously didn’t appreciate. Hung up straight away. Be careful everyone, loads of nasty scammers out there just trying to steal your money!!

This number has rung me three times just today. They’re not actually in London - they’re using Telecom Eireann (ROI) numbers to make the calls. The calls are coming from a call centre in India. The Indian authorities seem to turn a blind eye, letting these scammers make a fortune. BT and other phone companies surely know where these calls originate but appear to do nothing. They ought to block these numbers once they realise what’s going on. Sadly, these firms profit too by charging for passing on the calls.

A woman called me, sounded like she had an Asian accent, said she was from some company but I couldn’t catch the name properly cause of how she spoke. When I asked her to say the company again, she just ended the call. It was only about 15 seconds long, and I don’t know anything to do with this number.

Whenever I get calls from numbers I don’t recognize, most of the time they just end the call straight away. I reckon they’re trying to find someone who sounds unsure so they can try their scam tricks. So if you do pick up, be loud, firm and sure of yourself. But also be ready to explain if it’s someone real calling by mistake. If you have voicemail, just let it ring through - a legit caller will leave a message. I’m pretty sure some of our info has been nicked and passed around loads to scammers!

Someone rang claiming to be from Virgin Media offering a 30% cut on my bill. I told them I’d already knocked off £50 a month recently and doubted they could go any lower. When I called them out as scammers, they denied it, but I told them the same again and ended the call.
