What I do is play along like I’m interested, drag the call out for like 10-15 minutes, then hit them with the truth that I’m well aware it’s a scam. I asked the caller how they even found my number, and he claimed it was from the diesel emissions bureau. Asked straight away for my wife, using her name, even though it’s my phone! Didn’t seem bothered about privacy at all and launched into some story about a diesel claim form we supposedly filled out. We definitely never did. Gave him the benefit of the doubt and told him no, and said goodnight. Then suddenly he shouted at me, saying we must have done because he had the info.
