Got a call earlier that sounded like it was from HMRC but it was just some automatic voice message, definitely a scam.

Got a call telling me they were from HMRC saying a letter had been sent back and court action was on its way. They told me to press 1, so I did. Then the person on the phone asked for my postcode and said the amount I owed was over £1800 in income tax. They mentioned Section 150 of the tax law, but when I asked for details, they just cut me off. The line was pretty scratchy, like it was coming from abroad, and the voice sounded Indian - though I know that alone doesn’t prove it’s a scam. But hanging up when I questioned them was a dead giveaway!
