Had a call from a guy speaking with a strong Indian accent, but the line was so scratchy it was hard to understand him. He said he’d got info about a car accident I supposedly had two years back. When I asked him the exact date of the accident, he couldn’t tell me, just asked if I could recall it. That seemed off straight away - the date should be one of the first things he’d know. That’s when I clocked it was a scam and ended the call. The number started with "020," which I now know is just a front in London used for these dodgy insurance scams.

Got a call saying they were from Motive Insurance about paying £6,000 after a car crash. They told me to get in touch with the Motor Insurers' Bureau. When I asked where they got my info, they just ended the call without answering.

Got a call from a woman speaking with an Indian accent, saying she wanted to chat about an accident I supposedly had a year or two ago. When I asked how they got my number, she said it was from the Motor Insurance Bureau. But as soon as I questioned her a bit more, she just hung up. I checked and apparently the MIB shouldn't be handing out personal info like that to others. I’ve also read that Virgin Media, based in India, might be selling numbers instead. I am a Virgin Media customer myself, so that might explain it.

Just a heads up, I reckon folks at Virgin Media in Mumbai are passing around your phone digits and private details to these con artists. They ring up saying it’s about accident claims, but it’s all dodgy. Honestly, Virgin Media over in London should be sued for letting this happen!

I saw a missed call from an unknown 0204538xxxx number and decided not to pick up. Later on, I got another call from a similar number starting with 0204538xxxx. This time, I answered it to see what it was about. As I expected, it was one of those automated spam calls trying to verify if my number is active so they can sell it to marketers. Definitely a bot, nothing genuine.
