I was just trying to get onto the Argos website when suddenly a “Windows Defender” alert popped up all over my screen, with an American accent warning that “your computer has been hacked” or something like that, telling me not to switch off or restart my PC. There were buttons saying “Allow” or “Deny,” but clicking Deny didn’t do anything and I definitely didn’t want to press Allow. I had a strong feeling it was a scam, even though it looked quite convincing. So I grabbed my phone and looked it up, and someone suggested using Task Manager to shut down the browser. I did that and now everything seems back to normal. These scammers keep coming up with sneaky new tricks!
