With all the tech we have nowadays, I just don't understand why these annoying phishing calls keep happening. How hard can it be to block these scammers? They're such a pain!

I didn't pick up the phone when it rang, but for those who might be interested, I reckon it's part of some dodgy target enumeration scheme. Essentially, they're fishing for your details so that the next time they contact you-perhaps posing as HMRC, your bank, or any other financial institution-they can kick off the conversation with something like: "Good day, I'm ringing from ******, may I please speak to ******? To ensure I'm talking to the right person, could you confirm your address at ****** so we can move forward with this security check?" The trick is that they're just fishing for the very information you've unwittingly given them. Next, they might throw in a question that's designed to pry even more personal details from you, like: "Could you tell me what your last phone bill was, and which company it was paid to?" So, prepare for future scams from O2, Vodafone, and the like, all tailored to your profile. If you've got a spare moment, when the phone does ring, why not say something like, "Hang on a tick, my builder's here" or "Someone's at the door"? That way, you can keep them on the line. While they're hanging on, they won't be out trying to pressure some vulnerable person-especially the elderly-into spilling their personal information. Every second counts in that regard!

Got a call from a woman who kept saying she wasn’t selling anything but needed me to answer 5 quick questions. She asked me to confirm my address and postcode, but I told her the details she had were wrong. I ended the call straight away because it was clear she was fishing for my info. Totally a scam, blocked her number.

Had a call today from a number I didn’t recognise at all. Pretty clear it was one of those annoying nuisance calls, probably some dodgy scam. Honestly, it’s high time the Government along with BT sorted this mess out. There’s so many people who could easily fall victim to this, and it’s just not right that even with all the tech we have now to track and trace calls, these things still get through. Honestly, I’m disappointed in the Tories and BT for not cracking down on this sooner!
