02045257221 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02045257221 👆 is reported as a number frequently linked to automated calls from water companies like Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water, warning about water supply disruptions or discolourations. However, there is notable confusion and suspicion due to the number being a London code, far from many recipients’ locations, leading some to doubt its legitimacy and label it as a scam. Several users report persistent calls, sometimes late at night, with prompts to press buttons which raises concerns. Others confirm the calls as genuine after checking with their suppliers, advising caution but recognising it as a normal notification service. Experiences vary widely, with some describing silent calls or unanswered calls, and others noting poor compliance with messaging regulations or unclear identification from the caller.

Total scam. They kept asking if I was some bloke called Richard. I told them I wasn’t. Then when I asked who the heck they were, or where they were calling from, they just wouldn’t say. Instead, they kept pushing me for my name. I just calmly told them to bugger off.

I reside up north, so it baffles me why a firm based in London would be contacting me regarding a disruption to my water service. My neighbours haven't received any notifications about such issues, only me. It's obvious this is nothing more than a fraudulent call from a bunch of crooks.

Got loads of calls from 02045257221 yesterday evening, starting early afternoon round 4pm and they kept coming on and off until late. Just before 10pm we got one and then another right after 10 pm. They said they were from Northumbrian Water, which seemed a bit fishy. It got so bad we ended up pulling the batteries out of our phone overnight just to get some peace.

I saw a number from London pop up on my phone, which is pretty far from where I live, so I just let it ring out. I later checked the number on this site. Normally, scammers hang up after just a few rings, but this call kept going, so it might have been my water supplier like some others said here. They really ought to use a local area code though - it'd make answering feel a lot safer.

Got two calls from a London number but never picked up. I'm nowhere near London, and definitely not set up with the local water provider. Our water company sends text alerts all the time, but I didn't get any for this. Feels like it might be some kind of number spoofing or cloning going on.

I got a voicemail with a bit of a message about a water supply disruption. I reached out to Essex and Suffolk Water by email, and they told me it was a legitimate text-to-speech alert sent from them. Because it's text-to-speech, only a snippet got recorded on my answerphone. When I called back the number, there was no recorded message explaining who was calling or why, which seems like it breaks the rules around automated calls. Bit disappointing if you ask me.

Loads of water providers across the UK seem to use this number as their messaging service. I’d say don’t go blocking it straight away. If you’re unsure, have a look on the website of your local water company. It’s one of those numbers you want to keep, especially when there’s info about water cuts or outages you might need to hear.

I reckon I received about six calls from the same number on a lazy Sunday afternoon. My answer machine was off, so the phone just kept ringing on and on. Thankfully, my phone shows the caller's details before I pick up, so I decided to ignore it. Oddly enough, that very same number also contacted my mate who lives just down the street, pretending to be from a bank this time. How cheeky!

I’m not sure if this is a scam or not. The message was automated. Best thing to do is look up your water company on their official website. If an automated call asks you to press any buttons, don’t do it. Let the message finish and then just think carefully about it. Always double-check on the caller's website. Never answer or respond to calls from numbers you don’t know.
