I told the Police about it as I didn’t even check if it was my name they mentioned. The person on the phone claimed my husband had died. I reported it right away. Honestly, I just wish I had shouted back something like ‘You scammers!’ before hanging up.

Got a call from this number, some bloke with an Indian accent saying he was from Currys or PC World. He claimed I’d made an enquiry about a phone, but I had no clue about any request. When I asked him to clarify, he quickly switched gears, asking if I owned a Samsung or an iPhone. I stayed silent on that. Then he tried to pitch me some mobile deal, but I told him I wasn’t interested. That’s when he rudely told me to “go to hell” and cut off the call. Watch out, this is definitely a scam!

SCAM ALERT - this woman claimed she was from O2 but had a really heavy Indian accent. She tried to get me to read out a verification code she sent to my phone, warning me not to share it with anyone else who called later. I just told her I wasn’t interested in any discounts and ended the call straight away.

They said they were ringing from Vodafone, which I actually am with. But when they couldn’t confirm my name or the billing name, claiming it was “due to legal stuff,” I just made up a name. They then said “oh yes, that’s the name on the account” and insisted on more security details before telling me what the call was about. I went along with it, giving fake ID info and addresses. They even asked for my bank details, card info, and the security code on my credit card to verify my identity!

So this afternoon around 2, I got a call claiming to be from "Opticom UK" talking about my call blocking account or something like that. The connection was awful, all scratchy and buzzing, couldn’t quite hear what they were saying. I told them the line was terrible and said I wasn’t interested, then just hung up. Seems like one of those dodgy calls with no proper purpose, if you ask me.

I got a few calls from different 020 numbers claiming to be BT Open Reach, saying my internet was no longer private but public. It sounded dodgy, so I reached out to BT myself. They even sent engineers over and fixed one minor issue, so everything looked okay. Whenever I told the callers I’d talk to BT directly, the calls just dropped on me. This morning’s call spooked me since I’d felt better after chatting with BT for real, but as soon as I said I was jotting down info to go back to BT Open Reach, they hung up saying there wasn’t time. I was still worried, but they just cut me off.

Back in June and July 2023, there was a major breach involving the NHS swiftqueueU system where millions of personal details were nicked from an NHS booking site that still lacked proper security. It’s a clear case of organised crime and a big scam. While you can legally go after swiftqueueU, sorting it out in court takes a long time.

They’ve called me a few times but always hang up as soon as I pick up. Based on stuff I've seen before, I reckon they were just looking for someone who sounds older to get on the line.
