The caller had a bit of an Indian accent and said something like, "I'm ringing from the call blocking team..." and I just ended the call right then.

Got a call from someone sounding like they were from the Indian subcontinent, said they worked for Opticom Telecom. They told me that my line rental and call fees would go down next month. When I told them it sounded fishy and probably a spam call, they just ended the call straight away.

I usually don’t pick up when it goes straight to voicemail. These folks have called us quite a few times now.

Yesterday and today my BT4600 registered 4 "missed" calls from 02045205573. The person calling really seemed keen to get through. Luckily, I have a call blocking feature on my phone that tells unknown numbers my line is protected and asks them to say their name and press #. Since my phone never actually rang and there were no messages on the answer phone when I checked later, I reckon they didn't bother going any further, probably figuring it wasn’t worth the effort. When I Googled 02045205573, it turned out to be some sort of scam pretending to offer updates for call blocking software. So while the BT blocking feature stopped the calls, I still wasted a bit of time finding out if it was a scam or not. I’ve now added this number to my permanent block list and would suggest anyone with call blocking on their phone does the same.

As soon as I told them it was the "Devon and Cornwall Police Cyber Crimes Unit" calling, they went quiet and didn’t say a word back.

Someone rang me saying they were from some fancy “Scam Call Prevention” team that supposedly works with all the big UK providers - BT, Sky, TalkTalk, the lot. They asked if I was the account holder and then went on about how I had an outdated system, and they wanted to upgrade me to a new version to block every single scam call. To prove I was the account holder, all they wanted was the service reference number, which they said I could find by checking my Direct Debit info. Pretending I didn’t know, they even gave me a hint that the “Reference Number” began with IBAN. To mess with them a bit, I told him I needed to check out his side, so I asked for security questions. He brushed it off and said I could call their helpline whenever I wanted. I actually called the number on my mobile while he was still on the house phone - turns out it was a random bloke’s work phone! When he caught me chatting to someone else, he quickly hung up. Please be careful and don’t fall for this - no one should be handing over their IBAN to some random caller!

I got a call from someone claiming they were with a scam prevention group, but it felt dodgy right from the start. They tried to get me to give personal info over the phone, which made me suspicious. I just hung up straight away because it seemed like one of those scam calls pretending to be legit. Watch out for these kinds of calls - they can be tricky!

They called me several times, but I only got a chance to answer twice. The person claimed to be from some call blocking company, but it was so dodgy. The accent was Asian and sounded like a total scam. I managed to trace the number in the end. Proper dodgy lot.

What a dodgy situation! Someone claiming to be David rang me up, and it turned out to be a total scam. He was harassing me, trying to pry into my bank information. He even had the audacity to say I had to re-block nuisance calls! Quite ridiculous, really.

I got a call from a bloke with a bit of an Asian accent, saying he was ringing from ‘Call Blocker’ and wanted to talk to me - he even got my name right! But as soon as I began asking him some questions, he just cut the call off.

Got a call about some phone service upgrade starting tomorrow. Seemed dodgy straight away, so I asked if it would cost anything. When they said yes, I just hung up. You won’t believe it, the same guy rang me back in the afternoon! Didn’t bother picking up the second time. Sounded like an Asian accent, very typical for these scams.

I got one of those calls that start with that classic call centre background noise before it goes through. The bloke on the other end sounded quite polite but you could tell he had a sort of Indian or Asian accent. He was chatting about some call blocking thing, but I just told him I wasn’t bothered. That seemed to annoy him a bit, which honestly made me chuckle - I enjoy messing about with these calls!
