4 yearsI received a notification on my computer about a security issue that led to it being blocked. I reached out to this number to sort it out. After posing a few queries, the call suddenly dropped. The chap I spoke to had an Indian accent.4 yearsI spotted a message pop up on my laptop, claiming I had to ring this number for some security issue: 02045205337. My advice? Steer well clear of it! It’s nothing more than a scam, so don’t fall for it!4 yearsI've received a notification claiming that my computer has been immobilised for security reasons. Whatever you do, steer clear of calling this number!4 yearsSo, I got a call from someone named Sarah claiming to be from Microsoft, saying there was a security issue with my laptop and I needed technical assistance. She told me to ring 03333034823 and they’d call me back. Sure enough, a bloke pretending to be a Microsoft engineer called me back from 02039309546. He installed things like AdBlock, Web Throat Shield, and U Block on my laptop. At first, I was suspicious, but they came across very professional, and I really wanted to sort out the junk on my computer. Then, they asked me to pay £249.99 for a year’s service, and said I could get two years for the same price as I’m a pensioner. On top of that, there was another “tech fee” of £49.99. When I tried to pay, both my bank cards got declined because the bank flagged the transactions. I gave them a ring and they confirmed it was a scam. I ended up taking my laptop to Curry’s, where I bought it, and they sorted everything out without charging me a penny. Glad to have dodged that one - never thought I’d be taken in like this!SarahMicrosoftCurry ' s4 yearsMy dad had the exact same thing happen on his laptop, he’s quite old.4 yearsI got a message pop up on my computer telling me to ring 0204-520-5337. When I called, this guy with an Asian accent said my PC was infected with a Trojan and that I needed firewall protection - even though I’m already using Norton 360. He tried to charge me £360 for two years of protection, and said a five-year plan would be over £400, which seemed odd to me. Then he went on about a discount if I paid within an hour, dropping the price to £260. It all felt very dodgy. Has anyone else had contact from this number? Just want to warn people to stay careful and not fall for any scams.Norton4 yearsMy computer shut itself down saying there was a virus. When I restarted it, I ran some software and then called the number they gave me. The bloke on the phone kept wanting to know where I was, if I was at home and all. Totally a scam, so watch out!4 yearsMy laptop got locked and a message popped up saying it was from Windows Defender, claiming it found a Trojan spyware that was after my email info and personal identity. They then asked me to ring this number 0204-520-5337 so they could guide me on how to get rid of it over the phone.4 yearsA message suddenly appeared on my screen saying something like Windows Defender Security Center had found a threat. It mentioned an app called Ads.fiancetrack(2).dll and said it was a Trojan Spyware. Then it added that my computer was blocked for security reasons and gave a number to call for Windows Support: 0204-520-5337, which claimed to be toll-free. There was also a voice message warning me not to shut down or I’d lose my data and to call that number straight away. It kept repeating the warning over and over. I quickly messaged my son to ask for help and put the laptop to sleep. When I woke it up later, the message and sound were gone, fortunately. Everything seems fine now but I’m definitely going to run a full virus scan - should’ve been doing that all along!Windows Defender Security Center4 yearsMy laptop has been rendered unusable because of a so-called "security alert" prompting me to ring this number.
