Got a call from someone claiming to be from a telecom company, saying they were offering an upgrade to my call blocking to stop scam calls. They somehow already had my name, my husband’s name, our address, and even my mobile number, even though they rang on our landline. They tried to transfer me to their ‘verification team’ who asked straight away for my bank details. As soon as I said no, the call just dropped. I’ve reported it to BT now.

He was fishing for her banking information, disguising his intentions by prattling on about enhancing their service. Fortunately, she sought my assistance, and by the time I got back, he had already made himself scarce. It’s clearly a scam!

Earlier today, I received a call from a lady who had quite a noticeable accent, which I believe was Asian. She was inquiring about the arrangements I had for blocking certain services. During the conversation, she urged me to take a look at my banking statement for a specific number and proceeded to ask for a few personal details. To top it off, she requested my account number to verify something. Everyone, beware of this! Don’t let yourself be caught out!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent who said his name was 'Steven' and claimed to be from Open Telecom. He told me they were planning to upgrade my spam call blocking service starting tomorrow. After a few questions, he said he’d connect me to the verification team. I told him to forget it since I’ve never heard of Open Telecom, never dealt with them, and I'm not about to start now. I suspect they’re fishing info from the TPS registry and try to trick you into thinking you’re getting an “upgrade”, but really they just want your bank details. Complete waste of time.

The person on the phone pretended to be from some telephone preference scheme and said they’d be stopping all scam calls from the very next day. Then they asked me to hold the line so they could connect me to their "supervisor". I told them to wait a sec, because surely if they’re stopping scam calls, this must be one! Suddenly, the call just cut off. Guess what a coincidence!
