They rang me claiming to be from the housing disrepair team. I nearly got duped and kept chatting for about 20 minutes. The woman kept saying she wasn’t a scammer and wouldn’t ask for bank info, but then she started asking for my email and address details. That’s when I decided to look the number up on Google and luckily found this thread! I told her she should be embarrassed and ended the call.

Got one of those cold calls about free boiler swaps today. Proper sales pitch out of nowhere.

Got a call from someone saying I’d been in an accident, which wasn’t my fault. At first it sounded like an automated message, but when I asked her to take my number off their list since I don’t accept random calls, she was quite sorry and said she’d delete it.

Marcus was really hard to follow - he said he was ringing about some disrepair stuff at my place and mentioned the “Guberment” but I couldn’t catch which department he was actually from. He claimed they’d give me loads of cash for mould and broken doors. I told him my home’s in great shape and just hung up. It was so nonsensical it was almost funny, but I guess some folks might not spot it and could end up giving their bank info. Not saying I’m any expert either, but still, annoying!

Couldn't really make out what they were saying but claimed to be from some council housing group. Told them I’m not involved with anything like that and just ended the call. Pretty sure it was a scam.

BEWARE OF SCAMS! Always report any scam calls you get. Look up ‘action fraud’ on Google and head to the ‘police.uk’ website. Find the section for reporting phishing or scam attempts and carefully read all the info they provide. After that, enter the details of the scam right into their official police database. Make sure to add any web addresses or links you have too. This is really the best way for the police to track and understand how bad these scams really are.

Got a call from some housing association about issues with my place, but I never reported anything. Asked them where they got my phone number and they claimed it was me. I haven't tried calling them back because the number just shows as invalid.

I received a call from someone purporting to be from the National Housing Association, claiming there were issues concerning my property. When I pressed him about how he obtained my number, he stated it was from a report I had filed. I seriously doubt that! I attempted to return the call but the number was hidden. Total scam, if you ask me.

0204 520 3247 called me, some Indian bloke called ‘David’. Hard to catch what he was saying. Didn’t ask for me directly, just said ‘the householder’. I think he mentioned something about a national housing body and house repairs. I told him I sort out my own maintenance. That confused him a bit and he told me to hang up. I didn’t, and after around 20 seconds he just ended the call. Definitely a scam, but not clear what he was after. He was quite polite though.

She asked if there was any mould or damp in the house, I said no. Then she goes, are you positive? 😂 I mean, I’d definitely have spotted it by now. Plus, the phone had a London area code, and I’m based in the Midlands. Seems like someone dodgy trying to sell unnecessary repairs.

Got a call from an Indian bloke talking about house maintenance or something, but honestly, I couldn’t make out a single word he said. Funny enough, I actually do have a house maintenance issue reported already, so maybe that’s what the call was about. Still, I just couldn’t catch what he was on about.
