I just received a call claiming that I've got a £169 refund waiting for me linked to some insurance for my washing machine. It’s clearly a scam! No matter how many times I pressed them about where they had obtained my number, they just kept regurgitating their spiel about the so-called 'refund'. Strangely enough, this is the third time in a week I’ve been hassled about our supposed 'washing machine'! It’s becoming quite tiresome. We even informed them that we don’t own a washing machine, to which they replied it was about an old one. Honestly, it’s just astounding... total fraud!

I’m at a loss regarding the number 02045203540. They rang wanting to have a word with my dad, but he’s been gone since January 2021. When my mum inquired about the reason for the call, they abruptly ended the conversation. She’s been getting calls at odd hours lately. We’ve registered with BT to try and put a stop to these annoyances, but since the pandemic hit, it seems like the phone is constantly buzzing with unwanted calls and scams. I’ve advised her to let any unfamiliar numbers go to voicemail until she can verify who’s calling. We really need to bolster protections for those who are more vulnerable.
