I'd seriously advise against using Truecaller; I heard they’re actually sharing your contacts without asking.

Not sure who rang, but my Truecall call blocker shut it down in just six seconds. Sounds about right for one of those auto-dial scam calls. Pretty relieved I got that gadget, especially after reading what others said about this number.

So this morning at about 09:31 on 22/10/21, I got a call from someone who sounded Eastern European. They said they were from the telephone preference service, but it was all a load of nonsense. When I told them I knew they weren’t legit and not from the TPS, the line just went dead on me. Proper scam attempt.

When I tried calling back, I just got an automated message about Florins Online doing marketing stuff, and it told me to press 9 if I want to stop getting calls. There’s no way to actually speak to someone on that number. I have a feeling if you press 9, it just lets them know your number is active, which probably means more calls will come through.

Got a call from India about some accident and somehow they ended up telling me I was signed up for a call blocking service. Was totally confused as I never asked for anything like that. Felt like a bit of a scam to me. Be careful with these kind of calls!

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Service, asking if I was still blocking nuisance calls and wanted to keep it that way. They already had my name and address, which was a bit dodgy. Then they asked if my phone bill was still paid by direct debit - I asked why that mattered. Their answer? Something about charging me £100 for my call blocking service! I just laughed and they hung up on me.

The chap identified himself as being from the Telephone Preference Service and inquired whether I was still actively preventing unsolicited calls. He queried if I wished to maintain that service, and bizarrely, he already knew my name and address! Then, out of the blue, he wanted to know if I was still settling my phone bill through Direct Debit. Naturally, I probed him about why he needed that information. To my astonishment, he claimed it was so he could charge us a whopping £100 for a device meant to block those pesky calls! How cheeky is that?

The chap on the line claimed he was with the Telephone Preference Service, inquiring if I was still managing to prevent nuisance calls. He wanted to know if I was keen on keeping that up and surprisingly had my name and address on hand. Then he probed into whether I was still handling my phone payments via Direct Debit. I asked him why on earth he needed that information. His rather audacious reply was that he could charge us £100 for the call-blocking gadget we supposedly had! He hung up pretty swiftly once I chuckled at his proposal!

Got a call at 11.11 in the morning from some dealer but didn’t say a word, so I just ended the call. It’s really unsettling, especially for older folks living on their own or older couples.

He claimed to be representing the Telephone Preference Company and had my name, address, and even the expiry date of my bank card. When I pointed out that the expiry date he had was wrong, he pressed for the updated details for a direct debit. That's when I decided to hang up.

I received a call from an individual with a strong Asian accent claiming that we wouldn't be getting any more pesky sales calls from their end. It all seemed rather fishy, so I decided to hang up and promptly blocked the number!

Some bloke with an Asian accent rang me claiming he was from some sort of telephone preference agency. He wanted to check if I’d had any trouble with annoying or scam calls. I just said I hadn’t, at least until he called, and then I hung up. I always get a bit uneasy, wondering if they might actually be legit.
