TOTALLY A SCAM. Definitely not O2. They rang saying they were from O2’s upgrade team, offering me an early upgrade on my phone plan. I told them my upgrade isn't till next year, but they insisted I could get it now. They even knew my current plan and cost. They offered a sim-only plan for £26 a month, which is barely cheaper than what I pay now! I said no, and after seeing this page, I'm really glad I did. Mobile companies don’t usually push sim-only upgrades like that, and they wouldn’t let you switch 6 months early. WATCH OUT for this!

They sent me a new contract for an ‘upgrade’ and it already had my home address, email, and phone number on it, which was pretty worrying. I stupidly signed the form. They never asked for my bank details but did want my DOB at the end. I rang 02 myself after and they told me for sure it was a scam! Tried calling the number back but it’s dead now. Beware of phone contract scams! I received a call from a chap named Alex, but I must admit I found his heavy Indian accent quite difficult to follow. Despite the call coming from a London number, they refused to disclose their exact location in the city, claiming they weren’t required to do so. To top it off, they tried to sell me a contract that mirrored my existing one yet was a woeful £2 pricier each month. Quite amusing, really. I politely turned them down.
