5 yearsReceived an unsolicited call from a dodgy individual claiming to represent Microsoft, warning me about potential hackers targeting my system. He went on a lengthy monologue, trying to direct me on how to access the ‘event viewer’ on my computer, claiming that seeing ‘Administrative events’ with warnings indicated I was under some form of cyber attack-let me tell you, that’s utter nonsense. His agenda quickly became clear as he urged me to install ‘anydesk’-I swiftly declined and ended the call. Now, why would I want to do that? This so-called software enables remote access to your devices, allowing for file sharing, remote control, and even a VPN. It would have given this scammer unrestricted access to my computer, potentially exposing all my passwords and banking information. Don’t fall for their tricks! I've blocked the number, yet this chap has already attempted to ring me seven times! Take care and keep your wits about you!Microsoft5 yearsJust had a rather dodgy cold caller on the line, claiming to be from Microsoft and warning me about some supposed hacking attempts aimed at my computer. He launched into a lengthy spiel, urging me to open up the 'event viewer' on my machine and to take note of the number of 'Administrative events' that had warnings attached. Apparently, according to him, this means I'm under threat - which is utter nonsense. He then attempted to persuade me to install 'anydesk', but I abruptly ended the conversation. Let me explain why I was cautious. That application allows remote access to computers and devices running the corresponding software. It enables remote control, file transfers, and even VPN capabilities! If I had followed his suggestion, that would have opened the door for him to have access to my computer, along with all my sensitive info, including passwords and financial details. Don't fall for this trickery! I've blocked the number, and wouldn’t you know, he’s tried to ring me seven times since! Keep your wits about you and stay safe!MicrosoftSubmit Your Own Report (020 4520 0641)
