I got a call from a bloke who said I might qualify for one of those personal alarm pendants. He explained it’s for if I fall, so I could press it, which helps folks stay in their own homes and avoid hospital stays, easing the pressure on the NHS. He asked if I used a walking stick or frame and whether I was older than 50. He mentioned it’d cost just a quid a day. I told him I wasn’t bothered and ended the call.

At around 9 this morning, I got a call from this number, but I’ve already blocked a bunch of area codes like 020, 012, 013, and 004. I find it less hassle to block whole area codes instead of blocking each number since they keep switching up the last digits. Since I don’t recognise anyone from those places, it gives me a bit of calm not having to deal with constant random calls.

After a bit, a bloke named Chris came on, claiming to be an energy advisor nearby - but he definitely wasn’t from around here! I ended the call straight away. I’ve gotten loads of calls from similar numbers starting 02045162, with the last few digits different each time. Seems like a scam about loft insulation. I’d suggest blocking these if you can. Also noticed the same 'Chris' using Bournemouth numbers beginning with 01202. Watch out for these!

They began waffling on about government grants for insulation work on homes. When I interrupted to ask for more details about their organisation and what it was all about, they abruptly hung up. There was this young bloke who sounded really polite, said something like, “Hi, I’m Chris, your local energy advisor.” Straight away I was like, hang on, he didn’t say which company or exactly what area he meant. Then he asked if I owned the house. I shot back with, “How do you know that?” After a brief pause, he just said, “Oh, no problem, thanks for your time,” and quickly ended the call. I kinda felt a bit sorry for him, to be honest! 😂
