My phone warned me this might be a scam number, so I didn’t pick up the first time, but I did the second. A woman answered, sounding like a recorded message, speaking really slowly. She asked for info like my address, and after I gave it, I got uneasy and told her this isn’t the number NHS said they would ring me on. She said she’d check with her manager and put me on hold. I waited around 2 minutes and then ended the call. No one’s tried to contact me since.

On 24th October 2021, I got a text from this bloke on 02045153232 claiming to be from NHS Test and Trace. He’d already called me, now there was this message saying NHS Test & Trace reckons I’d been in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. It said I had to isolate at home for ten days from the last time I met them, unless I’m exempt. They told me to log into my NHS Test and Trace account and enter my details so they can guide me on what to do next. My account ID was something like zf********, and they asked me to keep it safe for signing in at some link. They finished by thanking me for acting fast to protect myself, the NHS, and everyone else. Honestly, it’s mad how stuff is going these days :(

I've received numerous calls from this lot, and every time they get in touch, they seem completely unable to confirm they're affiliated with any NHS organisation. They keep insisting they operate as an independent body. They've somehow accessed my information where I booked a test, but couldn’t provide any further specifics. They mentioned a form should have been sent to me via NHS email, but I haven’t seen any form of correspondence like that regarding my results. When I requested they send me an email, they simply said it wasn't possible, and when I suggested they send a text, they replied with the same excuse. To top it off, each time they ring, it's from a different number, and if you attempt to return the call, you’re met with a recorded message claiming it’s for NHS Track and Trace. Quite the puzzling situation, if you ask me!

A bloke rang me and already knew my name and the dates I was isolating. He asked how I was feeling, and I told him I’d already had a call from Test and Trace. He said I’d be hearing from them about twice a day since I tested positive, but he sounded like he was just reading off a script. When I asked if I should go back to work on the last day or the day after, he gave me an answer but seemed really keen to end the call quickly. He even yawned while we were talking! Just to be sure, I called 119 to check the number, and they told me it wasn’t theirs at all. They reckon it’s probably some telesales trying to cold call me, so they said to block it straight away. Apparently, real Test and Trace calls only come from +443000135000.

I got a call this morning claiming to be from the NHS Track and Trace. Their official number is supposed to be 0300 013 5000. They said I was in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. According to the rules, they shouldn't ask for any more personal info or payment, and definitely not ask for contact details of others you know. But the person on the phone started asking for my date of birth. I’d advise checking the official gov website for the correct info - be careful, this number seems suspect!

This is actually the real NHS team. When I first got a call, it was from the official 0300 number. Today, I got another call asking about how I was feeling, but it showed a different number. I mentioned it to the person on the phone and she said it’s just a glitch in their system that sometimes shows their direct office number. I’m employed with NHS T&T and this is our #internal# number. When we make calls, the number that usually shows up for the public is 0300 013 5000. Occasionally, though, it comes up as this internal number or with our extension added on at the end. If you’re unsure, just ask the person calling to hang up and ring back straight away; this normally sorts the problem. Please be kind to anyone calling from this number - it’s just a technical bug and they’re not responsible for it!
