3 yearsI received a rather dubious call from a so-called 'Independent Review Company' purporting to be affiliated with a Liverpool and Victoria Life Insurance policy-which, by the way, I don’t even possess! I promptly requested that they remove my name from their call list. The response from a representative, who I believe was named Chanelly (though I can’t be too sure about the spelling), was rather perplexing; she simply asked, “Why?” I explained that I’m under no obligation to provide a reason-the mere fact that I asked should suffice. However, she insisted she couldn’t comply without a justification from me. I reminded her that, by law, they are obliged to wipe my details upon request. Her retort was, “Okay, don’t go on!” Feeling rather fed up, I took the initiative to contact the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) to lodge a complaint. The woman I spoke with informed me that I needed to write in formally first to request any action to be taken. I expressed my frustration about not even catching the name of the company properly and she simply reiterated that was the only course of action available to me. Quite disappointing, really!
