Received a call from a firm calling itself something like 'Independent Review Company', mentioning a Liverpool and Victoria Life Insurance policy which doesn’t even exist. When I told them to take me off their calling list, the woman, something like Chanelly (not sure on the spelling), just flat out asked why. I said I’m not obliged to give a reason - my request should be enough. She insisted she couldn’t remove me without one. I told her that by law they must take me off if I ask. She grudgingly said alright, don’t go on. I ended up contacting the ICO about it, and the lady there said I had to first send the company a written request. I explained I barely caught the company’s name, but apparently that’s all I can do. Bit annoying really - wouldn’t you think they could trace the phone number and investigate, especially if more people complain about it? Oh well.
