So on the 3rd of Sept, I got a voicemail from someone pretending to be Dennis Grey from HMRC. These scammers really need to be stopped. I reckon if we all banded together, maybe we could find a way to get them jailed.

So I just got a call, my phone actually dropped the line, but before that I had someone saying they were from HMRC, sounded really scary and threatening!

Absolute scam. I got a voicemail from someone claiming to be officer Dennis Gray, which was hilarious. Then they left another message, maybe they didn’t notice I missed the first one, but all you could hear was some weird techno beats 😂

Got a call claiming to be from HMRC with a recorded voice saying there was a 'serious problem' and that I needed to get a lawyer involved. Definitely a scam.

Its definitely a scam, but honestly, why cant the cops track these numbers and catch the scammers? Seems like the authorities dont give a toss about these fraudsters, leaving it all on the poor person getting ripped off. Yet, if you missed your car tax, they'd be right on your doorstep in no time.

Just got a call like that today and didn’t bother answering. The voicemail sounded really dodgy though. It’s definitely a scam, so don’t ring them back unless you wanna give them a piece of your mind!

Got a pretty scary message, like really threatening, saying I had to call that number or the lawyer straight away or else something bad would happen. It was all urgent and time sensitive, made me feel quite uneasy.

Got a robo call from someone saying they were Dennis Gray at HMRC. They warned me or my lawyer had to contact them urgently or else I'd face legal trouble. Pretty sure they’re trying to trick folks into paying bogus parking tickets or somethin like that. I rang back a few times to mess around and figure out what they were on about, but all they did was hang up every time. Feels like some sketchy guys working out of a dodgy call centre.

They said they were from HMRC and right off the bat started saying I'd be arrested, I just ended the call straight away. But thinking about it, older or more vunerable people might freak out and actually hand over their bank info. It's really awful how they scare folks like that.

Got a horrible call from someone pretending to be HMRC, going on about solicitors like some others have said here. Weirdly enough, they ended the call with "Goodbye and take care". Even scammers can be polite, it seems!

Got a voicemail supposedly from an officer called Dennis Gray. The bloke says if I don’t get back to him, I should “get ready to face the consequences.” Seems pretty dodgy from what I’ve heard from others - sounds like a scam. Quite an unpleasant message to wake up to though.

So, at about 10:12 they gave me a ring, but I told the bloke I didn’t buy it and he just hung up. I then mentioned it to my accountant, who reckoned it was a total scam. After a bit of thought, I phoned back and warned him we knew exactly where he was and that we’d be paying him a visit to sort him out proper. The things he said (see comment #41) were a laugh to be honest. Someone joked about marking the number as a threat to his wellbeing if we caught him, and I couldn’t help but agree!

Got a voicemail from someone pretending to be HMRC, saying if I didn’t ring them back, I’d face legal trouble. After checking the official HMRC site, it turns out it’s a scam. They are advising anyone who gets these calls to report the number and details to [email protected]. Sounds like these fraudsters are after people’s bank info.
