This has to be a total con job.

I received a rather dubious call from someone purporting to represent HMRC, alleging that there was a tax fraud case involving my name. They insisted that I press 1 and made quite alarming threats about an arrest warrant being issued if I chose to ignore their demands. I've since contacted the police to report this fraudulent activity. The caller was incredibly aggressive and rather impolite, to say the least.

Got a call today on my unlisted mobile from someone claiming to be HMRC. Just a heads up, HMRC doesn’t do cold calls like that. They only contact you using freephone numbers starting with 0300 300 33xx. Definitely a scam!

Earlier today I was on the phone with Halfords, then later a call came through purporting to be from HMRC asking about my NINO. I had that scam call on a different phone earlier in the day. The first couple of times I answered there was no one there, just silence. By the third call I let it ring out to voicemail, and it ended up playing loads of hold music that got recorded on my answering machine.

They said it was hrme but it’s defo a scam, I’ve gotten calls from a Birmingham number just like this one.

I picked up and the call just dropped straightaway, looks like one of those spam calls. My mum got the same weird number ring her earlier too. Could be some call centre from India or somewhere else, hard to tell really.
