I got a call from a recorded voice saying it was HMRC, but I called HMRC myself and they said it was definitely a scam. Don’t fall for it!

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from HMRC, she said that either me or my solicitor needed to ring them straight away or there’d be serious trouble. Obviously I had a look online first and it turned out to be a total SCAM.

I got a call from some automated robotic woman who said she's from HMRC Revenue & Customs and they needed to speak to me urgently about some money I supposedly owe. They warned me that if I didn’t ring back, legal trouble would follow. Sounded proper dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, telling me my tax code was wrong and asked for my card info. They tried passing off as part of the official team. I told them straight that my tax's all sorted and I've never had a call like that before. Total scammer, no doubt about it. HMRC only ever contacts by letter if theres any problem.

Got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC, saying there was an urgent problem and I needed to ring them straight away. The lady on the phone sounded like she had a strong American accent, which was odd. I reckon these calls are targeted at older folks who might not know any better. How else would they have details like that? Feels like the tax office’s info must’ve been leaked somewhere. I’ve heard loads of vulnerable people have fallen for this and lost a bunch of money - it’s really worrying. Why is it so hard for the police to crack down on this kinda crime?

didn't pick up at first but then thought i'd call back. some bloke with a thick indian accent answered, spouting nonsense about an hmrc probe and a supposed warrant for my arrest due to some tax error or owed money that's due by midday. i said i'd sort it by going down to the local cops, which oddly seemed to satisfy him and he just hung up. total scam. definitely blocking that number.

So I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, telling me I was being sued over my income tax. Then they asked if I had a lawyer, and I just told them no way, this is obviously a scam. I hung up straight away and blocked the number.

I got a call from a guy who sounded like he might be from India, saying I owed about £4672 to the inland revenue. When I challenged him, he said the police would be ringing me within an hour. I’m thinking I might just call the police myself to check on this.
