Got calls from someone claiming to be my energy company asking for meter info. Every time I hang up, they ring right back. Then they start threatening to just take money out of my bank by direct debit. Such scammy idiots who have no clue about how banks actually work. Honestly, they should find something better to do and get proper jobs instead of bothering folks like me.

I work in the energy sector dealing with fraud prevention and this number is definitely from scam artists. They’re dodgy brokers who gather info they find online to trick you into thinking they’re your actual supplier. Once you hand over your details, they ring up your genuine provider pretending to be you and switch your account to another company, earning a commission on the side. If you happen to get a call from this number, make sure to contact your energy supplier straight away and report it.

Absolutely a con! They said they were from Smartest Energy, but when I called them out for trying to scam me, they just told me to shut up and hung up on me!

Watch out for this dodgy utility scam! I got a call from someone pretending to be from British Gas - funny thing is, we don’t even have British Gas as our supplier. She asked for the serial number off our meter, which made me suspicious. Once I started asking her a few questions, she suddenly got really nasty and hung up on me. Totally dodgy behaviour!

They keep ringing me up claiming to be from Yu Energy, asking for my meter details to sort out my bill. I’ve told them a few times to send an email to my account and I’ll handle it from there. Plus, I’m not even a Yu Energy customer. When I suggested they might be trying to scam me, they just cut me off quite rudely. The calls have come from numbers that are almost the same, just with slight changes in the digits.

Got a call from someone with a funny accent claiming to be from EDF about meter readings. This is at least the seventh time I've had this phone call, and every previous number linked to it has been flagged as a scam. I've told them more than once to just send any info through my EDF online account if they want to get in touch, but of course, they never follow up that way.
