They claimed I had unpaid taxes with HMRC and needed a legal rep to sort it out to stop me from being arrested or sent to jail. They wanted me to give my details and NI number to verify who I am. The people on the line said their names were Jenny Brown and William Neilson.

I just had a call from someone who claimed they were from the local magistrates court, but it felt sketchy. They tried to make it sound official, but I’m pretty sure it was a scam. Definitely wouldn’t recommend trusting anyone who rings up saying they’re from the court unless you’ve got a way to double-check first.
