I’ve been getting loads of calls from people saying they’re with O2, warning my SIM is on the verge of being blocked and that they need to send me a new one. They even tried to offer a discount on my monthly bill but clearly didn’t have a clue about my contract info. They never checked any details when I asked and I didn’t share anything with them. They were quite pushy, trying to get me to spill personal info. Honestly, don’t trust these calls or hand over any of your details.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from O2, trying to sell me discounts and whatnot. Definitely sounded like a call centre in India, proper strong accents and just reading off a script. They were quite pushy too. Best thing is to block them straight away and never share any info, not even your name.

Didn't pick up the first call, but answered the second one about 5 minutes later. They said they were from Virgin Media/O2 and that my phone might get blocked. After missing the first call, I looked up this site to see if it was a scam, and I was right. I told them straight up that they were scammers and the call was cut short. We’d been with Virgin for years and hardly ever got scam calls, but ever since Virgin numbers moved to O2, we’ve had way more. O2 really needs to step up their security.

same old rubbish from 02/Virgin scam...they said my number would be shut down in a week coz there’s some new system with Virgin/02 and i need a new sim card...bit fishy since i’m not even with Virgin/02 atm. i asked "what if I’m not with Virgin?" they insisted my number is Virgin’s...yeah sure, that was ages ago! idiots just wasting their time, better than them bothering elderly folk who might fall for it. i thought the government made rules against cold calls and profiling...seems like it’s all pointless.

Complete rip-off. I’m not even a customer of the phone companies they said, and when I asked why they were ringing me up...the reply was “our records say you have a SIM with them.” Eventually, the person calling had nothing left to say!

They kept ringing me all day, but I don’t answer if I don’t know who it is. If you’re not saved in my phone, you don’t get through.

Got a call claiming I’d been picked by some EE head office promotion. The caller didn’t bother with any security checks, which was fine by me since I wasn’t going to give them anything. When I told them I didn’t have EE, they quickly switched to saying it was for O2 customers instead, like those two brands are somehow linked. Then the line just dropped. Tried calling back, but the number wasn’t even real - just said I’d dialled the wrong number. Fishy for sure.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from o2, saying they were upgrading my sim. They tried asking me loads of security questions to get into my o2 account and email. Pretty sure it was a scam.

They claimed to be from Virgin/02, so I just went along with it at first. When they asked for my email, I told them they were a scam and refused. After that, they called me a b**** and ended the call!

Received a call from a call centre sounding like they were affiliated with O2 or Virgin, touting a replacement SIM card and some sort of discount. They were rather keen on obtaining personal information, beginning with my email. I suggest politely telling them to send the brilliant offer through the post instead. Definitely hang up and consider blocking that number! Just in case it’s of interest, the number was 02039898556. Quite the dodgy operation, if you ask me! 🛑

Lately, I keep receiving calls on my home phone from 0203 numbers, but I never pick up as they don’t bother to leave any voicemail. Now they’ve started ringing my mobile as well, still not dropping a message. I’m at a loss how they got hold of both my landline and mobile. Only one pesky company comes to mind that might’ve handed out my details to a scammer. Can’t believe it’d be Virgin or O2 though, surely not?

Some bloke called saying he was from O2-Virgin Media, claiming they were sending out a new SIM because of loads of complaints about dropped calls and internet problems after their merger. He passed me on to a guy named ‘Kelvin,’ who said he was a senior supervisor. I could hear bits of some handover behind the scenes as he tried to get my email. When I couldn’t give it straight away, he started getting really rude. I asked him to prove he actually worked for O2, which made him even more hostile - he began shouting, swearing, then just slammed the phone down. Proper dodgy call.

Someone rang me saying they were from 02/Virgin, mentioned the recent merger and how there had been loads of complaints. Then they tried to sell me a phone plan with unlimited calls and data for just £30 a month. I said I needed to mull it over and they said they'd phone me back later. Thankfully, I looked up the number here first, cos even though I was a bit iffy, it all sounded pretty legit.

Total scam, no doubt. Some guy with a thick Indian accent asked if I was happy with my O2 plan. I told him I’ve never even had O2 before. He quickly said, “Oops, must be a mistake on my system... Are you with Virgin Media then?” I said no and he just hung up straight away. Waste of time!

Received a call claiming to be from O2 and they were tantalising me with a 30% discount. They requested my email address along with a verification code. However, when the code from Microsoft popped up, it turned out to be a password reset code. I promptly declined to provide it and swiftly ended the call.

My husband kept getting calls from 02039898556, like six times in a row. He ended up sharing some details with them, thinking it was legit. They told him a new SIM card was on its way and to start using it. Now, we're locked out of his email entirely. We're really worried and don’t know what steps to take next. Can anyone advise?

Yesterday I got a ring from this number. A woman with an Indian accent said she was calling on behalf of O2, saying there was a 40% discount on my phone plan. She wanted my email to "verify" stuff and then asked for a code she claimed was sent to my phone. Turns out the code was from Microsoft, and she was trying to hack into my email by resetting my password. Proper dodgy if you ask me.

Can someone explain what’s going on with O2? After being switched from Virgin to O2 due to some shady takeover, I keep getting calls daily from some Gupta bloke pretending to be from O2. Are they somehow selling our numbers to scammers? I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re profiting off it too. Once my contract ends, I’m definitely jumping ship to Vodafone and hoping they handle my info with a bit more care.

This number keeps popping up on my phone but when I tried calling it back it just wouldn’t connect. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been called by this same number. Since they kept ringing me, I thought I’d give them a bell, but it was one-sided - no answer on their end. I know O2 and Virgin Media joined forces, but this definitely isn’t anything official. Sounds like a total scam to me.

There was a guy with a really thick Indian accent who called me up. He started saying that a bunch of people were ditching Virgin and O2 because of poor service, so he was offering a free upgrade and discounts on my bill! Thing is, I only use O2 for my mobile - no Virgin broadband or anything like that. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what he was trying to upgrade. He asked me to stay on the phone while he passed me over to another department, or something along those lines. I just ended the call. Later on, he rang me again.
