This morning at 7:50, I received a rather suspicious call. They appeared to know my surname and were offering an additional two years of guarantee on my washing machine for a fee of around £6. However, they couldn’t specify the make or model of my appliance. It felt pretty dodgy, likely a scam originating from India. When I tried to call back, I was greeted by a recorded message-an American-sounding voice claiming my call was 'important to us.' I was quickly connected to someone who sounded like an Asian gentleman, but there was a lot of commotion in the background. It certainly gave off the vibe of a typical boiler room operation!

Got a silent call from someone who’s obviously a scammer but wasn’t lucky enough to get to me. Lately, I’ve been messing with these Indian scammers by asking if they think they’re safe working in those busy call centres while Covid is overwhelming their hospitals. Seems to freak them out a bit!

Got a call from 02039897080 about renewing insurance for my fridge. Problem is, I've never had insurance on my fridge, plus it's well over 7 years old! They told me to call them back, but I decided to blow a whistle really loud three times instead. That ended the call pretty quick. Honestly, these scam callers deserve to be behind bars forever.

It’s one of those white goods insurance con calls, best just hang up straight away. Or if you’re feeling a bit cheeky and bored, you could keep them on the line and mess with ’em a bit. It’s kinda funny watching them get stuck trying to answer silly or weird questions you throw at ’em 😀

Got a call about some washing machine warranty. I threw him off right away by saying I wash clothes in the river and asked if he can cover my hands instead. We went back and forth for like 5 mins, with me telling him I’m a wizard from Hogwarts. Total scam but amusing way to waste a bit of time.

Got a call from an unknown number and chose not to pick up. No voicemail was left either. After reading some other reviews, I’ve blocked the number through my CPR CallBlocker, which has been brilliant so far. It’s handy to have 'The Phone Book' (BT) nearby so you can check the origin of the call quickly. While the phone rings, I usually try to search the number on this site or another one to spot any warnings. My advice is, if the number looks unfamiliar, just don’t answer. Genuine callers will nearly always leave a message, giving you the choice to return the call if you want.

Got a call saying they wanted to renew the insurance on my fridge, but we only have fridge freezers here. They didn’t even know the brand of the fridge. I looked at my insurance paperwork and it’s not up for renewal until September anyway. Rang my insurance company and they said they never ring up to do renewals. Definitely sounded dodgy.

On Friday 9th April, some bloke rang me saying the warranty on my washing machine had expired and wanted to sell me an extension (it's been about 10 years old). I told him I wasn't interested and hung up. Then on Monday 12th April, a lass phoned from the same number, talking about extending my fridge warranty or something like that. I couldn’t really make out what she was saying but said no thanks and ended the call. Same number both times.

I received a call from a gentleman with a rather accentuated voice, likely operating from a bustling call centre-though he claimed to be adhering to COVID guidelines, I'm sceptical about that. He mentioned something about my warranty being out of date, but here’s the rub: I’m on the Telephone Preference Service list and have recently moved into a new property where everything is brand spankin’ new. Thus, the notion of any warranty lapsing is utterly absurd. It’s best to steer clear of this number, folks-trust me on this!

TOTALLY A RIP-OFF. NEVER HAND OVER YOUR INFO TO THESE PEOPLE. THEY RANG ME UP AND KNEW MY NAME, BUT KEPT SAYING IT OVER AND OVER. I DID WHAT I ALWAYS DO - I ASKED, "WHO’S CALLING AGAIN?" AT EACH TIME THEY SAID MY NAME. OBVIOUSLY THEY WEREN'T GONNA TELL ME WHO THEY WERE. I EVEN RESPONDED IN A MONOTONE VOICE SAYING "RECORDED CALL" AND THEY WENT QUIET. ANNOYING FOR SURE, BUT I’D BET THEY WANT YOUR BANK OR CARD DETAILS. IF YOU’RE AFTER SUCH SERVICES, DON’T GIVE INFO TO COLD CALLS. ASK MATES FOR SUGGESTIONS AND IF YOU CAN, BLOCK THESE NUMBERS ON YOUR PHONE.

Some bloke called, said his name was Michael with an Indian accent, wanted to talk to my wife with her full name. I told him she wasn’t in and asked if I could assist instead. I received a rather intrusive call filled with all the typical call centre racket. They provided their phone number quite hesitantly. Then, out of the blue, they mentioned an address, "79 Old Cloister Street WC1 5B2" (or something along those lines). The caller claimed my fridge warranty had expired, but let’s be real - that fridge is over two decades old and has never had a warranty in its life! Then they proceeded to quiz me about the age of my washing machine and its brand. Just so you know, it’s brand new and still very much under warranty. Overall, it’s clear these people are up to no good!

Got a call today from that number. The bloke sounded Asian and gave his name as Marcus. I told him I wasn’t buying it. Next thing, he starts asking if I knew what “f off” meant.

I got a call from a woman who actually knew my name and was saying I was late paying for my freezer insurance or something. She sounded really threatening about it. I tried to stay calm and just said I don’t even own a freezer before hanging up.

Got a call from the typical call centre tricksters saying my washing machine was overdue for insurance. Total scam, as usual!

Received a call regarding the warranty for my washing machine. The voice on the other end had that classic call centre tone, and as soon as I expressed my doubts about the legitimacy of the call, they abruptly disconnected. Quite the dodgy experience!

There was this weird silence from an overseas number which immediately made me suspicious it was a scam. When I finally answered, I asked what he was trying to sell and what the whole scam was about. Funny enough, he knew my last name which was a bit creepy. Right then, I just ended the call since he laughed - not something a legit salesman would do, right? I only bother to answer these calls hoping it counts as answered and maybe they'll remove me from their calling list. Fingers crossed! Annoying and could easily be some kind of financial trap.
