Got a weird automated call from someone named Rachel Todd saying she’s from HMRC. Sounded super dodgy to me.

Just to say, HMRC never sends out robotic calls or calls themselves officers. This is obviously a scam. Around this time every year, these scammers pop up trying to cheat people. Best thing is to completely ignore them - it’s a total con.

We got a call at work, and the front desk passed on this number, saying we needed to ring back or HMRC would take serious action. They asked about our solicitor and claimed there was unpaid tax. I started questioning them, but they couldn’t really explain anything clearly. Something felt off, so I told them I didn’t believe they were really from HMRC. They threatened that someone would come to arrest our director. I just laughed and said alright, whatever. HMRC wouldn’t behave like that without plenty of warning first. Best to just ignore and not respond to calls like this.

Got a call from number 02039848683, someone named Rachel Todd saying there’d be serious trouble if I don’t ring back. Honestly, it sounds like a total scam to me, so I’m not bothering. Got a call from some robot voice threatening all sorts of trouble. Totally obvious scam, so I just blocked the number straight away.

I just got a call like that too, and as soon as I heard 'Rachel' mentioned, I decided to call the number back straight away. Some bloke with an accent answered and told me I was being summoned to court over unpaid tax or something. I told him, "No chance," and he just said he'd see me in court before hanging up. These calls can genuinely stress people out and cause real worry. Total scammers.

i got a call from someone saying they were “officer rachel todd” but the voice sounded really fake and robotic. the message urged me to ring back immediately, warning of serious trouble if i didn’t. knowing how hmrc usually operate, this seemed very dodgy to me. since i’m an accountant, i guess i get these scammy calls all the time, which might explain why they picked up my number.

So, when I called back, some bloke named Mr Miller picked up and was asking for my husband. If this was legit, surely the tax office would have my husband’s mobile number, right? What muppets. I kinda regret calling them back now, feeling a bit uneasy about it, but I didn’t share any info with them, so I’m guessing I’m safe?
