Got a call from what sounded like washing machine repair folks, but they didn’t even seem to know what kind of machine I own or any details about it like the brand or how long I’ve had it. Definitely seems dodgy to me, especially with what other people are saying about it possibly being a trick to scam your bank info. Be careful out there!

My mum got a call from some guy saying her washing machine warranty would expire on December 1st. He wanted her bank details to start a new direct debit for £7.50 each month. Mum refused to share any info over the phone, and he started acting a bit odd about it. He just kept going on, so she ended up hanging up.

Got a call from some bloke asking for a Mrs whoever, someone I've never come across. I told him I didn’t know her. Then he went on about a washing machine at some address that didn’t ring any bells. Told him again, I’m not the person he’s after and that place wasn’t where I lived. He then asked what I was up to today, so I said I was working. He just hung up after that. Bit annoying, was about to give him a proper earful. Blocked him straight away using BT Call Protect. These pesty calls are really getting on my nerves!

I got a ring from this number a minute ago. The guy actually knew my last name, which was a bit odd. When I asked who he was, he said he was just going to say but I cut him off pretty abruptly and then ended the call. A bit strange really.

Watch out if this number pops up! They claim to be from some appliance insurance, sounded like 'dsg' or something similar. I got a call about insuring my washing machine for less money. When I asked what appliances the insurance actually covered, they just hung up on me. Could easily trick you into handing over credit card info, so stay sharp.
