I got a call from someone who said his name was Moses Rufus, but he hesitated before saying it, so I’m pretty sure it was fake. He asked about the status of our planning applications for some building projects. When I told him I needed to check and call back, he refused to give me an email and only gave his phone number. Feeling a bit iffy, I tried ringing the number later - it rang a couple of times then just dropped. Not sure what the angle was, but it definitely felt dodgy to me.

I just had a rather peculiar phone call from someone who identified himself as Moses Rufus. I'm rather sceptical about that name, though; he hesitated quite a bit when I requested confirmation. He was inquiring about the status of our planning applications related to several construction ventures. When I mentioned that I needed some time to collect the necessary information before getting back to him, he refused to provide an email address and insisted I should only contact him at this number. Feeling a bit uneasy after the conversation, I decided to ring the number again, only to find it ringing twice before abruptly disconnecting. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there’s definitely something fishy going on here. It seems like it might be a scam of some sort, but I’m unsure of what the angle could be.

It felt like one of those international calls - they claimed to be from BT, asserting they were addressing some problems with broadband in my locality. However, as soon as I mentioned that I subscribed to Sky Broadband, the line went silent. Quite suspicious, if you ask me.

Got a call warning about a fake virus or trojan, trying to scare me into paying up. Sounded just like that Microsoft scam. Don’t answer these calls or let them anywhere near your PC, total scam!

Got a call from a number linked to some construction firm asking if we knew about any building work going on near a Home Bargains in a town nearby. Thing is, that town doesn’t even have a Home Bargains! Quite suspicious if you ask me, seemed like an unsolicited call and probably some kind of scam.

Received a call at my shop in Camden from someone probing about local updates. When I rang back, the line was completely unresponsive. It seems to have been routed from abroad. Definitely a scam! Just steer clear and don’t pick up!
