I've had quite a few calls from various numbers claiming I've won the lottery. Told them I wasn't interested, but they kept saying I'd "won" 10 lottery tickets and just had to set up a direct debit. Some bloke with a north-eastern accent called me, said he knew my name. He told me I’d won 10 lucky dip tickets for the national lottery. When he recited my address and asked me to verify it, I told him I wasn’t sure who he was and suspected it was a scam, so I just ended the call.

This number keeps ringing me non stop, saying I’ve got 10 free spots in some National Lottery draw and trying to get me to sign up for something called Play Period. I’m pretty sure they want my bank details for it, so no chance I’m giving that out! I checked with the National Lottery, and they told me they don’t call people for marketing or anything like that. Sounds like a UK call centre and seemed proper genuine but I’m not convinced its real.

If you question them directly, they admit they aren’t truly connected to the official National Lottery, so watch out. I’m also curious how they managed to get my name, phone number and postcode. They kept talking about a decline in lottery sales and said they’re trying to get people interested again, but they had no clue what tickets I normally buy or when. Feels quite sketchy to me.

Same here, it was from the National Lottery as well. They didn't seem like they were fishing for any personal details, just asked how long I'd been playing and if I'd ever won. Mentioned something about 10 free tickets but never said where they'd be sent, so probably won't see them anytime soon. Bit of a strange call really. Like others said - they say it's some lottery thing, giving out free tickets to boost sales and want your name, address, and DoB for "GDPR" stuff (never use your real DoB!!!). Then they try to get you to sign up for 300 tickets costing £12 each week and tell you won't be able to keep track of them all, plus say any winnings will go straight to your bank! Then they ask for your bank details and sort code for this. It's really sneaky because with that info they can basically drain your account!!! DON'T GIVE THESE SCAMMERS ANY OF YOUR INFO!
