Got a call from someone saying they were with O2 and had a loyalty deal for me. I asked why they didn’t just send an email or letter instead, which seemed a bit odd. Then they sent me two legit looking texts; one was a fraud alert and the other had a code. Luckily I spotted the warning and ended the call straight away! After that, they called me back twice while I was on the phone to O2. Turns out it was a scam, according to O2 themselves.

Got a message from someone saying they were with O2, claiming I could get 40% off, then they asked me to share a code. It was clearly a scam to get into my O2 account. I called them out, told them it’s dodgy, but the bloke kept insisting he was from O2. I ended the call and then phoned 202, the real O2 number, just to check. They told me it’s definitely a scam used to hijack accounts, change details, and buy phones. They said the scammer was actually using my email address to try and open the account, which is why I got those weird texts.

I received a call from this number and they sent me a code. I accidentally shared it with them and now I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve already contacted my bank and mobile provider just to be safe.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from o2 offering half price off. I just told him I pay £10 a month already, so no thanks on the discount. Proper scam if you ask me. I couldn’t help but laugh and he soon got the hint, then just went “Alright then, if you don’t want the deal, cheers bye” 😂

Somebody rang me saying I could get a 40% loyalty discount on my O2 plan if I followed some steps in a text they’d send, with a "code" that needed me to confirm my phone number and O2 account details. They said they were from O2 but warned me not to get in touch with O2 about the code, saying it would break security rules and cancel the deal. It all sounded pretty dodgy to me!

I’ve already let O2 know about this. These scammers want the 6-digit code sent in the follow-up text so they can hack your account. Absolutely NEVER share that code with anyone! The message even warns you not to hand it over to O2 employees themselves. Stay safe!

Some bloke claimed he was from 02 and promised I’d get 40% off my bill. He kept pushing me to open a message he sent straight away. I told him I’d look up his number first. He was pretty insistent. Honestly, I got a bad vibe like it was a scam, and after seeing what others said, seems I wasn't wrong.

Part 2 *Watch out for scams* Don’t ever give out this code, not even to O2 employees. This helps keep your O2 account safe. To access your My O2 account, they say enter code %%%%%%. What I don’t get is, how did he manage to send me a message with no visible number showing? Also, what’s the goal with sending that code - how does it make them any money from me? Bottom line, it’s definitely a scam. BT, can you block this number and maybe alert the police about whoever’s behind it?

Someone called claiming to be from O2 and asked for a code, they already had loads of my account info. It sounded legit and I got tricked. I’ve since updated all my details with O2 and flagged it as fraud.

I couldn’t quite catch what the person was saying, so I just ended the call. Going through these comments, it’s clear this is a scam. Honestly, when will the authorities do something to end all these scams? There’s far too many of them about these days.

I’ve had about 6 calls already, all saying they’re from 02 offering me 40% off my bill. When I said I thought it was dodgy and ended the call, they kept ringing back 3 more times trying to prove they were genuine. Honestly, 02 really needs to clarify on their website whether this is legit or just a scam!!!!!!

I’ve had a run-in with what seems to be a fraudulent O2 call! The chaps claimed they could give me a 40% discount on my plan. But when I mentioned I wasn’t even with O2, they promptly hung up on me. Definitely dodgy characters!

Strange call from someone claiming to be O2’s promo team, offering a 40% discount. They never asked for any personal details though. Got a text from O2 as well, but it looked different from the usual ones I get and wanted me to send back a code. Don’t understand what they’re trying to achieve with that?

Got a call from someone saying they were O2, and shockingly, they already had loads of my info like my bank and address. They tried to get me to pay £88 on my card for some "great deal" 🙄. I wouldn't give them anything and they kept pushing. I ended the call, but they rang me two more times after. Checked with O2 afterwards - definitely a scam.

Got a call claiming to be from O2 and they somehow got the system to send a security code straight to my phone. Be careful, never give that code to anyone! It’s actually how they begin to take over your online account and change your password!

It’s really unsettling that they managed to get hold of my full details, like my name, address and even postcode. When I said I was about to put her through to the police, she just ended the call straight away. Honestly, it’s high time there was some proper action taken, especially to protect people who might be more vulnerable to these kinds of calls.

Got a call supposedly from O2 claiming I'd get 40% off my plan. They definitely knew my name and email, then tried fishing for my memorable word. Even got a text that appeared to be from O2. I didn't share any details and ended up ringing O2 myself to check it out.
