Got a call from some bloke asking about a warranty on our washing machine. Told him it’s way past any warranty and we never really bother with those anyway, so I just ended the call. Oddly enough, he actually knew my name. Definitely felt like one of those dodgy scams, wouldn’t trust it at all. Proper shady and not to be messed with.

A bloke rang up saying my washing machine warranty was nearly up - I wasn’t even certain I’d signed up for any cover like that. He had all our details, name, address, and even postcode, and asked if he should just renew it using the card on file. I told him to go ahead with whatever payment they had stored. It wasn’t until he asked me to grab my card so he could check the expiry date that I realised it was a total scam. I told him I didn’t have my card handy, and he said he’d ring back tomorrow. I won’t be picking up that one! Feeling a complete mug here.

I just got a call about renewing the warranty on my Bosch washer and it sounded pretty legit at first. But please don’t get fooled like I almost did and don’t give out any bank info on a call like that!

Got a call just like this one, sounded really convincing too. They told me to consider it and call back later. I went and checked my Miele warranty and turns out it’s valid till 2020! Definitely a scam, watch out!

Got a call from some bloke called Charles or something, claiming my washing machine cover was running out and wanted me to renew it. When I asked which contract he was on about, he hung up sharpish. Smelled fishy to me. The number started 1491 but seemed to be missing a digit. Total scam if you ask me.

Got a call from someone claiming to be DGS, saying my washing machine warranty was up. Thing is, I don't have any cover at all, so it was obviously a rubbish call. I told them to explain who they actually were and then just ended the call.

Called my mum and dad and got the same weird vibe like others mentioned. They was quite cheeky and were trying to push some kind of warranty or insurance on them. Seriously, steer well clear of these lot!!!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from DSG, saying my washing machine warranty was about to run out. They asked for my debit card details, but I said no and double-checked with the real insurance folks at D&G who told me they don’t do cold calls. Sounded like really smooth English scammers to me. They used names like Eliot and Robert, supposedly a security manager or something. They even rang back again later. Best thing to do is just hang up straight away.

we keep getting loads of silent calls from different 0203 numbers, seems like a call centre thing with multiple numbers being used. those 0203 london area codes can be bought really cheap by people anywhere in the world, so be careful! if you get calls with 0203 and no one talking, it’s probably a scam trying to get your bank info or personal details. best to just ignore them, its dodgy.

Watch out for scams! I got a call saying my washing machine warranty was about to run out and that the price would increase. They told me I was paying £120 a year for it, which is complete nonsense because I don’t have any warranty at all. They were just fishing for my bank info. Total rubbish!

i got a call from some company saying my washing machine warranty was about to run out, domestic and general or something like that. when i told them i'd just renewed it, they ended the call right away - bit cheeky if you ask me! i reckon if it really was d&g they wouldn’t have been so quick to hang up. the bloke said his name was mark, but honestly, not sure if i should trust him. had i been willing to share my bank info, i bet mark would’ve been all smiles!
