They told me it was something to do with a Morrisons voucher, like a draw or something I had joined ages ago... like six months back or so!

Somebody called me up trying to get me to join some monthly lottery group. Seemed like a telemarketer and they wanted my bank info. Quite suspicious, I thought.

I received a phone call earlier today from someone attempting to persuade me to join a lottery syndicate. They made some rather enticing claims regarding shared prizes among a whopping 150 participants. To attempt to convince me of their credibility, they rattled off my personal information, including my full name, birthday, and address. A definite warning sign, however, was when they started asking for my banking details - sort code and account number, to be precise. I’m really uncertain about how much of a risk that could pose or what they might do with such information, but I firmly declined to hand it over. I decided to terminate the call and promptly blocked the number.

Got loads of spam emails from these folks calling themselves offerx and get test keep, saying i joined some competition i have no clue about. Looks like a phishing scam trying to snag personal details. If you look them up on Trustpilot they seem really sketchy!

They’ve been ringing me two or three times daily, and it’s been going on for about three days straight!

I recently received an email offering a so-called free gift from someone claiming to be Argos. Initially, they lured me in with a supposed £500 prize, which swiftly changed to a £100 win. Although I didn’t investigate the sender's email domain, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to play along. To this end, I provided them with a false name, postcode, and date of birth, all in a bid to observe their next moves, while only sharing my unlisted phone number and email address. To my astonishment, just a few hours later, an email popped into my inbox announcing that a free phone was ready for me to claim - provided I coughed up a £1 for postage. It became crystal clear at that point: another scam was underway. That seemingly innocent pound could quickly add up and, worse, it would put my bank account or credit card details in their grubby hands. By Monday, I received a phone call where they used the false name I had provided, prompting me to respond in quite an unfriendly manner. Another call followed shortly after, this time from a woman who didn’t sound British at all, once again inquiring about the fictitious name. Just because a number appears to be UK-based doesn’t guarantee the caller is actually in the UK. A lot of these scams seem to originate from countries like India or Pakistan, and it's rather disconcerting that we Brits, often due to politically correct attitudes, tend to place an unwarranted trust in foreign callers, even when we suspect we’re being conned.

Called me at 12:38 in the afternoon. As soon as I picked up, they disconnected without a word. I suspect they’re after bank information, possibly to 'confirm' some sort of lottery winnings.
