8 yearsBeware of calls pretending to be from HMRC, it’s a scam so just hang up.HMRC8 yearsI received a rather alarming phone call supposedly from HMRC, asserting that I was involved in some serious wrongdoing and that authorities would be arriving to arrest me within half an hour. When I picked up, all I heard was a recorded message threatening imminent arrest and instructing me to return the call if I wanted to discuss it further. Curious, I rang the number back and they just inquired if I was a certain Mr Mark. They were claiming to operate out of Westminster, so I pressed for a desk number and requested to speak to a supervisor. They provided me with a name, Rich Miller, but the conversation was less than satisfactory. After the first representative abruptly ended our call, I tried reaching them again another seven times, only to be cut off repeatedly. Interestingly, every so-called advisor I spoke with had a noticeable Pakistani accent. The call took place on Thursday, 22nd March, around half past three in the afternoon. Quite the harrowing experience, to say the least!HMRCMarkWestminsterRich Miller8 yearsGot a call from someone claiming HMRC was looking into my case. They said it was from hmre, but that’s not a legit government number. The people there had no clue about any investigation. If you’re ever unsure, don’t call back the same number - just look up HMRC official contacts on Google and get in touch with them instead.HMRCGoogle8 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be HM Revenue, but it was definitely a scam. When I rang back, I could hear another voice in the background of a man shouting threats if the caller didn’t pay. The person on the line didn’t really know who I was and kept asking for my phone number. I told them they’d called me first and to check their recent calls to prove it was mine, but then they just ended the call. This was really upsetting, so I hope this number can be looked into properly.HMRC8 yearsGot a voicemail claiming HMRC would take legal action if I didn’t ring them back.
