Got a call from someone pretending to be Virgin Media, total scam!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from O2/Virgin about a new SIM. They somehow found my email and managed to get into my O2 account without me saying a thing. This has all the signs of a proper scam. They really need to be blocked and looked into by the police asap.

Got a call from 02039548321 telling me O2 would block my SIM for three days and send a replacement. Told them I wouldn't swap it when it arrives. Sounds like a total scam to me.

I received a message claiming that my Virgin SIM would not function and that they intended to send me a new O2 SIM while keeping my number intact, without any cost involved. It all seemed rather convoluted. When they requested my email for verification, I cheekily provided an incorrect one, yet somehow, I still got through their checks. That’s when I realised it was just a scam.

Some guy from India called me trying to do this weird, funny British accent thing, saying my O2 sim contract was about to renew, even though I ain't with O2 anymore. I just ended the call straight away. Funny enough, they rang me again later, so I just blocked the number! :)

I received a call from someone claiming to be part of the tech support team at Virgin Media O2. Initially, they requested my email address, explaining that there was an impending disconnection of my mobile service. Then, curiously, they asked for a second email that had to begin with "ye". After that, they insisted on a code supposedly being sent by Microsoft. I refused to provide it, and while she reassured me that it was alright, she warned me against sharing the number with anyone else apart from them. This seemed to rattle her, and eventually, she hung up. Just to clarify, both email addresses I provided were entirely fictional.

I received a call from a representative claiming to be from Virgin Media's O2 support team. They requested my email address to verify who I was, but then abruptly stated that they would be blocking my phone number because I was unwilling to provide that information. I pointed out that it felt like I was being scammed, and she reacted with quite a bit of anger, insisting that she was going to proceed with blocking my number, all because I refused to divulge my email.

Fraudulent call - definitely not from O2.

Received a call claiming to be from O2, mentioning that my SIM card was at risk of being blocked but they would send a replacement. I got transferred to another representative who then mentioned they’d be sending a new SIM for Virgin Media instead. When I requested them to verify my billing address as a form of identification to confirm they were genuine, they insisted that I needed to complete an ID check first. At that point, I decided to hang up and block the number.

Got a call at around 2 in the afternoon on a Saturday from someone speaking with an Indian accent, saying they were from Virgin Mobile. Thing is, I’ve never even had Virgin as my provider. Didn’t bother sticking around, just ended the call straight away!

I recently received a phone call from a number claiming to be O2, which struck me as a bit dodgy. In fact, it’s the third time I’ve had a similar call from various numbers, all with the same O2 spiel. They insisted that my SIM card was on the verge of being blocked and that I needed to upgrade promptly. On the first call, I naively followed their instructions. Before I knew it, they gained access to my EE account, changed my password without my knowledge, and then proceeded to order an iPhone 15 delivered right to my doorstep. Had I not caught on, I would have faced charges for this fraudulent purchase, with the payment going straight to the scammers. What a worrying experience!

Received a phone call claiming to be from Virgin on behalf of O2, saying they'll be dispatching a new SIM card because ours are out of date. Is this for real? I didn't share any personal information, but I was on the line for about five minutes.

It's quite evident that these intrusive spammers are nothing more than desperate souls attempting to extract your personal information for some nefarious purpose. Honestly, it’s infuriating! I reckon they ought to be tracked down and made to answer for their deceitful actions. It’s hard to believe the lengths some will go to in order to exploit others!

Got a call from a woman who sounded Asian, said she was from O2. The number isn’t even on O2 anymore, it’s on Virgin. She asked if there were any issues, we told her all we get are spam calls. When she kept going, we told her again we’re not with O2 and she just hung up.

Got a call around lunchtime from someone with an Indian accent. He mentioned something about BT wifi and tried to ask how I was. I told him straight up that I don’t usually pick up my mobile unless I know who it is, then ended the call. They called back twice more. First two times I just switched my phone off cause I didn’t know the number. Finally picked up the third time, just to see what it was about... big mistake really!

There was some laughing in the background which really put me off straight away. The voice had an Indian accent, which I find a bit hard to understand. I think he said something like "open net, how are you?" I just replied with "okay, bye" and ended the call.

Got a bunch of calls from someone claiming to be O2. Every time I hung up, they kept ringing back without stop. The person sounded to me like they had a South Asian accent. They asked for my mum’s maiden name, which seemed dodgy instantly. I told them flat out they were scammers and warned them I’d report the lot to the police. Told them to buzz off and not bother me again.
