Got a call from someone with a really bad American accent claiming I’d done some sort of tax fraud and needed to get in touch with HMRC ASAP. They said my court date was coming up fast, but honestly, with all the delays thanks to the pandemic, it sounded pretty unlikely. Really amateur stuff, not sure how anyone falls for it. Probably a 1/10 for trying at best.

luckily the call was really choppy from the other side, but it was clear it was some kind of call centre and the person on the phone sounded like they were just reading a script.

honestly, if you just hang up without leaving a message, there’s no way for us to figure out who called or why. would be great if you could leave a voicemail next time!

I think I got a call around the same time as others here, and it definitely felt like some sort of scam.

The number looked unfamiliar, so I just let it ring out. They didn’t bother to leave any message either!
